While actors and actresses are routinely voicing their support for racial and gender quotas in Hollywood,Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh told E!’s Giuliana Rancic that she does not want to see movies and actors nominated for awards just because of their race or gender.

“I think this year there were a few women roles that were really outstanding. And we really need more and more of them,” Yeoh said. “I was just disappointed that there were no women directors nominated. But it’s hard. Because it is so competitive. I think a lot of the time, let’s not nominate because we need to make up the numbers for the gender or the diversity, we have to do it because the movie and all the characters speak for what it..

Or westerns or action movies. Most of their redos suck.

Instead of "let's not", she should have said "let's stop". Thanks fieldmarshaldj.

What I want to know is how these hypocritical, self absorbed, ego maniacs justify separate best actor and best actress awards. What about all the other genders? How could anyone with half a brain watch that sewage flow?

Oh dear. She’ll get fired by the STD producers once word gets out about her comments!

On the plus side, that means when they “kill” off her character the next time, she’ll actually stay dead!

>> I’m liking ST Discovery <<

From the plot summaries I've read of season 2 thus far, they're only 6 episodes in and they already:

- Made Spock into a unstable mass murdering psychopath who escaped a mental institution (while he was serving under Captain Pike as Science Office, mind you)

- retconned the super secret underground Section 31 organization as something that "every Starfleet officer" casually knows all about, and

- promptly brought back the "dead" gay boyfriend character (who exists on the show for the SOLE purpose of "being gay" and making out with the gay cast member) with the space fantasy concept that when Culber's neck was snapped, his "energy" got transferred to the fungus zone and now they've brought him back to "our reality" with a brand new physical body, and somehow his memories are totally intact.

How anyone can "like" that is beyond me. The more I read about this show, the more I'm GLAD I'm stopped watching halfway thru season 1.

Jiminy Tap-Dancing Christmas. That’s bad soap opera, not Star Trek.

She was Miss Malaysia at age 20... she is 56 now, and still quite athletic. She studied at the Royal Academy of Dance in London, majoring in ballet. She did most of her own stunts in her movies. She also seems to get more attractive with age.

1983 Miss Malaysia

1985 Yes Madam

1987 Magnificent Warriors

1997 Tomorrow Never Dies

2004

::shaking my head at all the FReepers who think Michelle Yeoh is stunning::

I never found her remotely attractive. I did enjoy her work in action movies but her casting a Starfleet officer was the worst Star Trek casting I've seen since Geneieve Bujold played "Captain Janeway" in the original Star Trek Voyage pilot (she quit two days into filming and was replaced with Kate Mulgrew). Yeoh was extremely stilted and awkward, and I think she did most of her lines phonetically.

Of course she's 100% right about the SJW crowd and she's a decent actress when given the APPROPIATE role, but she was godawful in Star Trek and I'm glad they killed her character off after 2 episodes. Unfortunately they decided to resurrect her to rip off the "evil Asian Mirror Universe empress" premiere from Star Trek Enterprise, and much to my dismay, a bunch of people LOVE the crappy writing in Star Trek Discovery. How ANYONE can enjoy that dung is beyond me.

I heard it gets even worse: latest rumor is the show will reveal that Michael Burnham slept with her stepbrother Spock to "save him" during a Pon Farr when no Vulcan females were available, hence the reason for Sarek being enstrangled from him.

Bad soap opera writing, indeed. (That's what happens when you hire Gilmore Girls writers to write Star Trek instead of actual science fiction writers) Even without any SJW push, Discovery would still be crap.

“...I never found her remotely attractive. ...”

Billy, I don’t even remotely know who she is. She could pas me on the street, and I’d not recognize her.

Along with 98% of the other brainless, replaceable bimbos that Hollywood kicks out these days.

Much much more then just a martial arts movie.
