The whole thing was a setup.

guy just called in to Dennis P{eager from chicago. Said cops called in every day to talk shows to report irregularities in the case. 25 “tactical detectives” assigned to case.
Said the final straw was cops got a warrant on the redacted phone records and saw that the “victim” was on the phone with his “assailants.”
One has to ask why Smollett didn’t have any white friends he could ask or pay to assist him in his racist hoax.

Yep, if he didn’t mess up with the camera this would have gone another direction. So much political capital would have been involved that even if facts came out to refute his claims, there would have been a cover up. Just like with Dr. Ford...

I am often amazed at how many incidents get recorded these days. There’s a surveillance camera around, or it gets captured on someone’s cellphone. But poor Jussie — his camera was facing the wrong way. LOL!
He made up this story to boost his career. I want to know why he hasn’t been arrested! Oops! forgot! black and gay. That’s why. There is no justice in this country, but there is black privilege and gay privilege.
He was so wicked on so many levels.
One of which is any black man who really is the victim of any racist attack is less and less believed. I known I believe these claims much less now. Although I am sure it still happens.
And I know white people are being targeted for being white as well.
. Just like women with their crap rape charges make it much harder for real rape victims. There are real rape victims who are absolutely ruined by their attackers. And they are revictimized by the phony rape allegations of others.
And of course he has just further polarized people which is so nasty.
All this time I was thinking there was an unplanned attack first, and then a story made up after the fact so that he could deflect from the guy who attacked him and point the blame somewhere else. This is looking so premeditated now, he definitely needs to see jail time for a premeditated hoax.
