All this time I was thinking there was an unplanned attack first, and then a story made up after the fact so that he could deflect from the guy who attacked him and point the blame somewhere else. This is looking so premeditated now, he definitely needs to see jail time for a premeditated hoax.

It wouldn't have changed the police investigation, as this "crime" was set up in a very amateurish way.
Surveillance cameras, phone records, and bank records solved this case pretty quick. Remember, the police were already waiting for the brothers at the airport. This was solved weeks ago.
Maybe they could re-enact it.
It federalizes all crimes against any protected class.

Time will tell but the cops might just be getting their ducks in a row to charge him. Two weeks ago, I would’ve bet anything that WHEN this gets proven to be a scam, he’ll get the standard “he still did good because he raised awareness” pass from the media and the cops would be more than happy to let this PR nightmare go away. But after the crap that has been slung my Hollywood and member of Congress, not to mention how much time they’ve had to waste on the this garbage case, it looks like they want to send a message to not pull this kind of fake crap in their town. I hope so, this jerk loser is just begging to be made an example of.
