Early tracking for Marvel Studios Captain Marvel is projecting that will film will have an opening weekend of over $100 million when it hits theaters on March 8, which would make it the first big box office hit of 2019.
Aside from Black Panthers mammoth $201 million opening last year, this film is on pace to be the highest opening for a debut superhero installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. By comparison, 2016s Doctor Strange opened to $85 million, while 2014s Guardians of the Galaxy opened to $94 million. This tracking also means that Captain Marvel could rival or even top the last film to feature a female superhero, Wonder Woman, which opened to $103 million in 2017 and went on to gross $412.5 million domestic and $821 million worldwide
Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot who was recovered by the Kree after mysterious circumstances and was transformed into the titular superhero at the cost of her memories. After crash landing back on Earth during the 1990s, Carol must recover her past self and save the planet from getting caught in an intergalactic conflict with the help of future SHIELD director Nick Fury.
Though Captain Marvel doesnt have the advantage of an introductory appearance like Black Panther did in Captain America: Civil War or Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman, her debut film will be seen as requisite viewing for hardcore Marvel fans as the heroine will play a critical role in Avengers: Endgame. Following the cliffhanger ending of Avengers: Infinity War, the forthcoming debut of the Captain and her connection to Nick Fury was teased in a post-credits segment, and fans will surely be interested to see why that relationship is so important.

>>Space is cold. So the form fitting suit will send the comic book boys into a new realm.<<
People advanced enough for interstellar travel would likely have space suits that are entirely force fields, like in Guardians of the Galaxy

And considering that the Kree and the Guardians are in the same Marvel universe, you would expect them to have that technology, which would allow Captain Marvel to fly through space in a bikini. Or less...
“Avengers: Endgame. April 26th. “
And that is why we have a Captain Marvel movie. We need more superheroes to fight.
I’m pretty much over comic book movies. If they show up on Prime Free or Netflix I might watch one. Might not.
They make too many.
Well, it’s not as if the box office hasn’t been dominated by different genres in the past. In the 1950’s, it waan’t unusual to have over 100 Westerns released in a single year.
Ditto.
Whet is it about these idiots?
It is not enough for them to hijack a franchise to make a SJW Grrrrl Power movie, but then they cant stop talking about it and pissing everybody off during the run-up.
Trust me, the Woke messaging in this movie was not going to be overlooked. It is baked in the cake. There is no need to telegraph the punch.
Their best hope was to play it straight, and slip their political messaging past the viewer amongst all the distractions and explosions. But they couldnt do that. They had to have their ridiculous before-the-fact Victory Tour, where they congratulate themselves for being so brave and challenging.
Early expectations for this movie, from six weeks ago, was a $140Million opening weekend. Now, after four weeks of SJW posturing by the extremely unattractive and off-putting Brie Larson, the prediction is $100Million. This charmless woman is losing them $10Million a week.
Im giving this one a hard pass. Next year, when its free on Netflix, Ill watch it in a home Double Feature with Lady Ghostbusters, half in the bag.
There is not a boy in the entire USA that is going to Brie Larsons poster on his wall.
Just look at this train wreck or a picture. All CGI garbage with Brie Larsons face pasted in looking like it was cut out of a magazine with scissors. Yet somehow, the only live image in the shot, Brie Larsons block-of-wood visage, is the least realistic looking thing.
I guess the chick on the right is the eye-candy. Sure as Hell Brie Larson isnt going to be doing that job. So we have to respect Captain Marvel as a person, but we still get outsourced eye-candy. Bravo.
And what is it with that set? It makes no sense. You can CGI render a completely foreign object to the nth degree, but it still winds up looking fake, because it makes no sense to the viewer.
Too much CGI is off-putting to me.
I bet there are bunch of girls and she/hes that will.
Bull.
Brie Larson reminds me of the current protesting NFL players who already have their money so they don't care that their antics are going to hurt future players because lower ratings now means less money in the next TV contract. Larson already has her big fat contract so if she kills the movie and pushes the franchise in a bad direction, that's someone else's problem.
