Amazon may not be coming to Long Island City after all.
The e-commerce giant is reconsidering its plans to open a new 25,000-employee office in the Queens, New York neighborhood, the Washington Post reported on Friday. Two people familiar with the companys thinking told the Post that Amazon was turned off by growing local opposition to the deal, which has been building up since Amazon announced it would be building part of its so-called second headquarters in the Queens neighborhood last November.
The question is whether its worth it if the politicians in New York dont want the project, especially with how people in Virginia have been so welcoming, a source familiar with the matter told the Post.

Ok, so who didnt see this coming? All of the Democrat Social Justice Skakedown Groups and Democrat politicians have their hands out, demanding Amozon pay them for the privilege of moving to NYC.
How ‘bout them taxes? LOL.
Florida is nice, Jeffy..........................
Ideally, Bezos will announce the switch to Virginia in blackface
Amazon is trying to extort the taxpayers of NYS.
How the Hell is this not illegal?!?
Actually the locals are mad that Amazon is getting HUGE PUBLIC SUBIDIES when their water, sewer and public transit systems are going to pot.
I thought they made a very good case.
Yep. People with this much stupidity should be punished. Screw them. Open a facility in some other state.
Wonder if ths has anything to do with that $2.8 bil in lost revenue that Cuomo was recently talking about....
“especially with how people in Virginia have been so welcoming”
Yeah, rent’s cheap in NoVa and no traffic
Are you against people or companies negotiating for the best deal possible?
If I go into a car dealership, and say I won’t by a car unless they meet my demands, is that illegal?
Head fake, they wanted to be in Panem all along.
Can we lay this at the feet of Occasional-Cortex?
The question is whether its worth it if the politicians in New York dont want the project, especially with how people in Virginia have been so welcoming,
Why not consider building in a State that isn’t killing your future customers?
Correction, $2.3 billion...
New York will regret letting a few loudmouth Anarchists and
anti-Gentrification Hoodlums scare this business away.
Areas of the East Bay and San Francisco are going through something similar. Sometimes, a neighborhood will go through a natural evolution. No one is guaranteed that their business or dwelling will always remain affordable.
Think about all those good jobs you could have offered the people.
AOC said she didn’t want them there. I think she should get the credit.
There are times you have to give something up to get something.
10,000+ new jobs that will be there as long as the facility is standing and occupied by Amazon in the years ahead is nothing to sneeze at.
Vox is a stinking far Left website, so I am not surprised there are Social Justice Warrior types shown in the picture at their website, but if they are against something, I am pretty much for it these days. They are the anti-corporation dweebs.
They are being short sighted.
I don’t blame the companies for trying to get the best deal possible. It is the local politicians that are the problem.
I am against crony capitalism.
And I can’t freaking believe how often I have to explain that around here. On FR, for Pete’s sake.
Tax cuts for all, not a favored few.
