Looks like an amazing film. Just saw the preview on TV.

I’ve been hearing about this.
Looks good!
Go see this people. I saw it Monday 1/20, totally worthwhile. Stay after the credits, there’s an 8-10 minute interview with Peter Jackson on the making of the movie. See if the theater doesn’t crack up on his artillery comment.
I have not seen it and of course I was not there, but upon mentioning the film to an art teacher who has knowledge of the past, my voice cracked.
This trailer is not new, but it is breathtaking.
I know I’d need Kleenex if I went to see it.
Christmas day I awoke and they were telling the story of the Christmas truce in the trenches.

I said a prayer.
I saw the movie in December. I am really glad I did, it was wonderful, well worth the time and money to go to the theatre to see it.
If you do go to see it, be sure to stay after the credits and watch Peter Jackson’s commentary on the making of the movie.
Watched the trailer, and I’m sure many will enjoy it. I would love to - and won’t.
I can’t get excited about anything coming out of Hollywood any more, even something like this. All you’re doing is pouring money into the engine that we all despise.
/minor rant
I was thinking earlier today about how we likewise despise abortion, but we keep giving money to companies that lobby for continued abortion. Never mind your tax dollars paying the salaries of the “leaders” that keep voting for it. You can despise it all you want, but you can’t escape it, even by voting. You will pay for abortion your whole life, one way or another.
There are only 3 things that will “right” this country at this point:
1) Fire and brimstone.
2) A civil war.
3) A world war with a *full* draft (men, women, wide age range).
A big enough portion of our populace is too damaged to ever recover, short of being *forced* to. They reproduce, they vote, and they whine far louder than anyone else.
I think I see now why no previous President pushed the envelope. I think politicians knew the country couldn’t handle it, and instead of pushing back, they enjoyed their kickbacks and watched it all crumble around them.
/end
Colorization is a double edged sword.
This is done well, but it does make it look a bit fake.
I’m sorry. Some context?
It was made in New zealand, not Hollywood, using film from the Imperial War Museum in London
Amazing incredible story of the grittiness of WW1 trench warfare in the words of the men who were there
Your loss
I also ssw it in December, but the part where the ptoducer talked about the film came at the beginning, and there was, for some reason, NO sound.
Anyway, the film is a true work of art and history, and is well worth seeing again and again!
It starts out almost light hearted......recording British voices remembering why they joined up.....but after the build up it gets brutal and real.....too real.
Scenes you would rather forget.
Just saw it last week.....really brings home War is Hell!
I wished they had included our American forces......they were only mentioned at the beginning.....
..but it is well made
100,000 Americans killed.......
Again, stay for the credits and Peters personal walk through and family photos
WB posted the YT video, and their logo is there when you click play.
If you’d like a list of some of their contributions, you can read about them here: https://www.warnerbros.com/studio/about/company-overview
It doesn’t matter where it was made. It matters where your money is going.
I saw it a couple of weeks ago, and it was excellent. Now WWI was a war that was truly a waste of lives, happened solely because of old, poorly thought out alliances, achieved nothing, and destroyed the best of a generation. Very tragic.
I had a great-uncle who was gassed during the war, was shipped back half deaf and half blind, and became a recluse up in Maine near the Canadian border. I never met him, but he was apparently a very bitter man (understandable).
It’s a must see movie. You won’t regret it.
You don’t have to worry, it’s not a Hollywood product. That’s the reason it’s quality and not garbage. It’s anti-Hollywood.
