Let’s assume for a moment that you are correct, and from your example, prisons don’t work. So we can either become totally lawless society and to which we are quickly approaching. Then we need another scenario to preserve society and by extension, the county.
I would suggest that we really bring back the death penalty. You commit a felony you are put to death immediately upon conviction. That will be a deterrent and will eliminate criminals within our society. Crossing the border without authorization you will be put to death. eliminate border walls and prisons. want to import drugs and or distribute drugs that destroy live, well, we will destroy yours. Justified punishment and eliminates future threats.
Yes we would need to be careful but then individuals also need to be careful of their behavior.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, they are "immoral" as well, as is proven by the fact that prison walls have incarcerated significant numbers of innocent people who were wrongly convicted back in the days before DNA testing.
So any of our liberal acquaintances who are still talking to us (if any exist), spout the typical talking points against border walls, then point out to them that these arguments they think "prove" border walls shouldn't be built will likewise "prove" that prison walls shouldn't exist either.
