The casino rule was that if a dealer had a 15 or higher the dealer would hold. They would draw until they reached a 15.

Wow! Where is this casino, and have they changed the rule? Holding on 15 instead of 17 would change the game a lot. Not sure if it would change the odds much, though. Hitting on a 15 or 16 increases the odds of a dealer bust, but the same odds would apply to the player, I guess.

It may have been 17 but I believe it was 15. Think a moment, a 15 would mean, on average, the next card would be a 6.5 (13 cards)so, on average, you have a 1/2 chance to bust. At 17 a 5 or higher and you bust which is almost 2/3 chance.

Very simple odds. You won’t win every hand but you’ll win the majority.

A friend’s brother lucked out one time at a new casino, as the dealer would consistently draw another card when the House had 17. He was stunned as the House would usually “bust” (don’t know the term). Won $3,000 that day.
