As people and places become richer, women tend to have fewer children. The most obvious reason being that poverty, as in the past, means seeing a quarter of your babies die before their fifth year. So, as wealth increases, this happens less, and it is necessary to have fewer births in order to still ensure that only meaningful result of life, the production of grandchildren.
It is also true that a richer place provides more for people to do other than just pump out more babies, and so, people do more of those other things.

Yes, exactly. Even Mexico’s birth rate has dropped. Women having something like an average of 2.7, 2.1 kids while prior it was something like 4 kids per family.
The real we are seeing fewer children in American is because they have been ABORTED.
I attend a nondenominational church in north Texas.
I not that fertility in that demographic is pretty high, and always has been.
Catholics used to be even higher.
I believe that this was one of the reasons for the border invasion plan way back when the Frankfort School and the Fabian Society began formulating their plans.
I’ve thought for a long time that the Left was trying to turn men and women against each other (especially White men and women). 30 years ago, I thought this was impossible. However, they seem to be succeeding. It doesn’t help that young American women have become fatter, uglier, more liberal and more hostile to men. Young men use Tinder and Internet porn to ease their raging hormones. Relationships & especially marriage are increasingly avoided. Just my 2 cents.
Women want careers. Some want to be men. Many don’t want to be “just a mom”.
Now, where have I heard something to this effect before....hmmmmm.....ah yes! Romans 1:26.
“...for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature...”
The fastest way to poverty in this country is to be a single woman with kids. Finding a guy a woman would trust to be a good father is taking longer for some women, for a variety of reasons. And some women find out the hard way that time isn’t on their side. Childless and childfree aren’t always synonymous.
Maybe if white folks become a minority they will be able to qualify for all kinds of freebies like minorities do in this Republic do today. Oh wait, What am I thinking?
The country will get heal when we replace furloughed government workers with illegals.
Then and only then will the jerks in DC realize what they've done to the country.
“Johnny always says you can only screw so much.”
I saw a story yesterday on TV. It was a Liberal reporter saying we needed these immigrants to come to our country as our birthdate was falling to less than replacement numbers. And I thought back to the 60s, when the Left pushed Zero Population Growth as too many people was a threat to our planet. How many families do you know now that have more than 2 children? I really think this is the Leftists dream of lowering the intelligent voters and elevating those with lesser awareness.
Too bad this so-called journalist didn't pass 10th-grade English.
(Still isn't quite right, but then I'd have to restructure the entire sentence.)
Would you please explain that? How can one never have had children, and yet still not be "child-free?"
Finding a girl a man would trust go be a good wife and mother is taking longer for some men, for a variety of reasons. And some men find out the hard way that time, the law, and society aren't on their side.
Western civilization is aborting, buggering, and contracepting itself out of existence.
“Childless” and “Child-free” represent two vastly different attitudes regarding the objective fact of having no children.
Childless can include people who wanted kids but were infertile.
Child-free is “we don’t have kids, we don’t want kids, and we’re proud of it”.
Women working + abortion = No Kids
Repeal the ‘70s. Otherwise, it’s lights out.
