as an American of italian descent i could care less about the show- though i did like the Bada Bing scenes..

it is funny though how the snowflakes find everything culturally inappropriate, including the song Baby Its Cold Outside, yet continue to fawn over a television series which stereotypes Catholic italian Americans...once again, i love the hypocrisy of the left...

I really enjoyed this series but hardly best ever. Perry Mason, Andy Griffith, Breaking Bad to name a few that were better.

My Sicilian grandfather left Italy in part to get away from
the mob to find it imported here too, nothing to be proud of
yet many Italian-Americans revel in the association, dance to the
Godfather theme at weddings, etc.

Funny thing he had an industrial business for 40 years and the only
time a protection shakedown came his way it was from an NYPD Cop

I enjoyed the series immensely and have watched it three times. One of the lines I thought was funny:

Broken Heroes!

It will be....until Game of Thrones ends. Then Sopranos will be #2.

What amazed me was the number of times somebody was killed, and the body was left there, along with all kinds of fingerprints and DNA evidence from the killer. Despite this, no one was ever arrested or even questioned about the murder.

FWIW (Uncle Junior’s place was filmed in Jersey City at corner of Seaview & Ocean Ave. You see PS 40 as Tony gets out of his car and cross street. 2 blocks west on Seaview in same episode Christopher is outside apt building.)

The adoration of "The Sopranos" represents everything wrong with our culture. It is the manifestation of the disease.

In art and the media, we have elevated criminals to status of hero to be envied and worshiped.

These characters should be reviled and yet they are praised and emulated.

I know, I know, 'it's just a tv program. Lighten' up. Have some fun. Enjoy it for what it is'.

I'm sorry but I can't.

I don't take any joy in watching heartless, soulless, moral-less reprobates glorified as role models.

You ask, 'what's wrong with society today?'

Take a look at The Sopranos and all the 'spin-offs'.

John Gotti and the fictional counterparts aren't heroes.

They're the lowest of the low who should be reviled.

It’s a top ranked mini series

But some would argue Game of Thrones is better or Breaking Bad

Very good series through season 3, and then it ran on empty until the end. It almost descended into self parody. It’s not the greatest tv show of all time.

I never saw it once, although I did chat quite a few times with old people in a largely Italian-American community a few decades ago. They only had negative things to say about gangsters, and the accounts they shared were saddening. They were angry that gangsters were being glamorized by Hollywood.

Seasons 1-4 of "The Wire" were the best TV drama I've ever seen. Season 5 was not nearly up to the caliber of the previous seasons, and it was obvious the show had run out of ideas, but at it's peak, I think it was the best.

"The Sopranos" ran out of ideas a lot faster than "The Wire". It was also a great show and James Gandolfini was brilliant, but I got tired of the recycling of mob stories or dramatic stories we've seen elsewhere recycled in a mob context by "The Sopranos". Each season we'd get some irritating underling of Tony's who he would eventually need to see removed - Richie Aprile, Ralph Cifaretto, Tony Blundetto. Joe Pantoliano as Ralph was terrific - the show never had a problem casting great actors - but he was pointlessly killed off, so the show could recycle his character with a different name and a different actor (Steve Buscemi).

"What’s more: Chase finally clarifies the ending. Sort of.(snip)"

Say what? There's someone out there somewhere who needs to have that ending explained to them? Or maybe there's more than one ending that was shown here or there at some time or another?

The ending that I saw was not open-ended at all.

Nah. Firefly was the best TV series. It just didn’t last very long.

I loved The Sopranos. My wife and I binge watched it last year. My favorite character was Silvio Dante played by Steven Van Zandt of The E Street Band fame.

We then watched his own television series called “Lilyhammer.” He plays a mob guy who goes into witness protection and asks to be relocated to Lillehammer, Norway, because he fell in love with it watching the 94 Olympics that took place there.

Needless to say he is a man among children as he outwits the populace that is the result of decades of socialism and the nanny state. It’s hard to believe these people were once Vikings.

All three seasons are on Netflix, and if you liked The Sopranos, and especially Silvio, you will love Frank “The Fixer” Tagliano.

Love the Sopranos, but Game of Thrones is the greatest show ever.
