Burke Ramsey, the brother of child beauty-pageant queen JonBenét Ramsey, who was killed more than 22 years ago, settled a defamation lawsuit against CBS Corp. and several others on Friday, his lawyer told NPR.
Ramsey, who was 9 years old at the time of the grisly killing, sued CBS in 2016 after the network aired a two-day documentary series that included the theory that the boy had slain his 6-year-old sister.
Burke's attorney, Lin Wood, told NPR in an email that the lawsuit has "been amicably settled to the satisfaction of all parties."
"For almost 20 years, it has been my privilege to represent John Ramsey, Patsy Ramsey (before her untimely death in 2006) and their son, Burke in a number of defamation lawsuits," Wood said. "It is now my professional and personal wish for this family that they no longer suffer the pain of false accusations in the future. I sincerely hope the CBS case is my last lawsuit for these fine clients and friends."
A CBS spokesman agreed that "the case had been amicably resolved."
The final settlement amount was not disclosed, but the complaint, filed in Michigan, was seeking no less than $250 million in compensatory damages and no less than $500 million in punitive damages.

My opinion, he did it....................
Heh, if NPR had a single mentally competent reporter, they could have shown Boulder to be the corrupt village that it is. Police Chief? Right out of the Keystone cops. We’ll never know what really happened, save for the fact that the police investigation was a farce of epic proportions.
But, since Boulder was the model for South Park’s “Smug Alrert”, what more could we expect.
Oops, two corrections: Referring to Boulder’s inept Police Chief at the time of the so-called “kidnapping”, and that’s “alert”.
Does anyone else remember a SNL skit about this back around that time?
I can’t find it, but recall whoever played the father capturing well the horrified look he always seemed to have in front of the cameras.
I can’t remember who they were trying to implicate at the time.
For those skeptical of this reading of the evidence, run your home address through one of those search engines that show all the registered sex offenders living nearby. Most people easily have at least a dozen or so living within a mile -- and will then wonder if their level of home security is adequate to the risk.
My father in law was a policeman for many years, then an investigator for the DA’s Office, and worked his way up to Chief Investigator for the DA’s Office. So I would always ask him about cases and he was always right in the end. I asked him about this one and he said...someone in the family.
The grinning psycho did it
I always thought so too, but proving it...?
Boulder PD were accomplices after the fact.
It was the only thing that made sense.............
I wonder if this case can be solve via DNA analysis, which I believe was not “a thing” then, or at least in its early stages and not dependable. There must’ve been some hair, skin cells, bodily fluids, etc., left behind and sitting in some evidence box. Even if it didn’t prove who did it, at least it could exclude known suspects such as family members.
Boulder DA: New round of Ramsey DNA tests completed, more could follow:

Thanks for the info on DNA. Wasn’t aware of that.
Anyhow, I think Mom did it. Probably had a short temper and struck out when the girl objected to being Mommy’s Barbie doll.
Your father-in-law is a wise man. I was living in Cheyenne, Wyoming, at the time this happened and I've studied the case ever since. I'm absolutely convinced that it was an inside job. I don't believe JonBenet was murdered; rather, there was an accident (caused by Patsy), followed by the attempted cover up.
If I remember correctly, the FBI stated they had NEVER had a case where a ransom note was left, even though the body was dead and still in the house. Add to that a 2-1/2 page ransom note - written on paper already in the house AND with a marker already in the house - and the intruder theory just doesn't add up.
One more thought regarding evidence, or lack of. If a pedophile had taken her to the basement and killed her, there would be TONS of forensic evidence, including seminal fluid. None of that was found, just a very, very, very small amount of foreign DNA on her panties. That could've been transferred in the factory that packaged said garment. Patsy took the secret to the grave with her, but Burke and John are still alive. Perhaps one of them will someday tell the truth.
One more thought: If there was ever a case where Occam’s Razor applies, this is it.
My theory is the boy was jealous of all the attention Jon Benet was getting. She supposedly got a ton of Christmas stuff and he didn’t get something he wanted. The parents knew he did it so all the stupid cover-up fake ransom note and hiding the girl’s body in the basement closet...................
The brother was kilt? Wow.
The lesson to be learned from this is to lawyer up early, hire your own investigators, and don’t say nuttin’!
