I find that difficult to believe, simply because anti-Slavic notions were so high in America on their own.

Watch any 1970s TV show. They couldn’t depict criminals as black, Italian meant ORGANIZED crime, and Gawd forbid a criminal not seem ethnic. So they were ALWAYS Slavic. Even about 80% of the criminals on Barney Miller.

Or nerds. Simply adding “-owski” to a name was Hollywood shorthand for nerd. Only when nerds started becoming ironically cool did they start having non-Slavic names.
