I fostered a teacup that had been quite maltreated. It was supposed to be for just a few weeks until another foster home could be arranged.

That was 8 1/2 years ago.

I don’t like him much sometimes, but he sure is a lovable little beggar. Kinda cute, in a bug-eyed monster sort of way.

Chihuahuas are a very popular dog around these parts, especially among the elderly. I’ve had to put up with their antisocial behavior many times, as a visiting nurse. I am a dog lover, but I wouldn’t have one of those ankle biters. Having said that, there is no excuse for what this woman did. But I do take exception to the wording of the article. The word “smashing”, to me, sounds like deliberately raring back and slamming the backpack into the tables and chairs, and maybe she did, but that would not just shake up the puppies, that would kill them. They’re really tiny. Now, if she was swinging the backpack around and around, and it struck the tables or chairs during THAT exercise, I can see how the puppies could have been shook up, but not otherwise injured. Not excusing the woman’s behavior, in either case. Just sayin.

In the old days, people used to put kittens and puppies in bags and throw them in the river or a lake if they didn’t want them. Not saying it should be done today but its what used to happen.

Chihuahuas are the spiritual heirs of the Tyrannosaurus. Like with housecats, we are fortunate that they are too small to kill us.

I have my own little Porta-Pooch, Gypsy, the Portuguese Podengo Medio.

Though she be small, she be fierce and in truth, is the master of the Dobes. :)

Wardaddy is always right.

Male dogs fight ritual combat style, usually stopping when the other dog [or person] submits.

Bitches go for the kill.

I’ve had lots of male Dobes over the years but the two girls were/are the ones you had to worry about the most.

Same with my Ibizan Hounds.
They were all happy hunters but the girls had the mad prey drive the boys could never match.

Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies said...[D]deputies who rescued the puppies said they were ‘shaken and tormented’.

Meanwhile, on the other side of town, a Broward LEO refused to engage a school shooter that killed 17 and wound another 17 children. spit!

Nasty little thing that would always try to get a piece of me

From Rudyard Kipling's poem The Law of the Jungle:

==================================================== Now this is the Law of the Jungle -- as old and as true as the sky;
And the Wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the Wolf that shall break it must die.

...
If ye kill before midnight, be silent, and wake not the woods with your bay,
Lest ye frighten the deer from the crop, and your brothers go empty away.
Ye may kill for yourselves, and your mates, and your cubs as they need, and ye can;
But kill not for pleasure of killing, and seven times never kill Man!

========================================================== Dogs that bite get swatted ... hard ... or worse.
