Somehow I don’t think you’re going to see Michael Moore do a sequel called, “Mary and Me”.

We bailed them out. They repaid. Now it’s their turn to step up. See?

Join the side you’re on.

Gonna need a whole lot more proof than an anonymous Tweet based upon an anonymous source. Otherwise, it’s simply a wild conspiracy theory.

I think I read something about how they paid us back (taxpayers) in our own money.

Not sure how it’s going to play out this time around. But I can say there will be pain, short to medium term.

While Dayton landed Fuyao to replace the closed GM Moraine plant and Tenneco to replace Delco/Delphi, this would be a very tall order - multiple factories replaced in a short time. Second, any buyers would use far less of a footprint versus GM.

GM’s shift toward “green” electric cars (which no one wanted) and away from trucks and SUVs (which are now dominating the market) led to this disaster.

This is a disaster for the workers but it isn't because GM isn't performing fairly well. They're very profitable and their stock price is up.

In fact, this is the kind of strategic thinking they need to be doing to remain profitable.

This is almost exactly Ford's strategy, just announced a few months later.

Bingo! But it goes further than that. It’s not coincidental that this happened on the eve of the G20 showdown with China. GM is as globalist as you can get with plants in China and Mexico for cheap labor. And while I sympathize with the workers laid off, it couldn’t have come as too much of a shock since they were building the least popular cars in GM ‘s lineup. And those who think that formerly American companies should have some allegiance to America, even though American tax money saved their asses a few years back must now realize that corporations see themselves as global without alliengences.

You mean when Fiorina ran HP? When HP was running HP, it was an awesome company. Legendary.

They did have a thing about Engineers. Only the degreed Engineers were people. The rest were techs, and even if they had a proof of concept for the perpetual motion machine, nobody would listen.

I’d think that it’s already being done behind the scenes. Site selection isn’t always a public thing, especially with all the states that would want a/another plant.

If it was between Michigan and Ohio though, the former would be more likely given that they have Right to Work. That said, I would like to be surprised - if only to give Honda some competition.

Not to worry. The UAW will enthusiastically endorse the closings in opposition to Trumps’ objections!

There is something online when searching that they did use or may have used TARP money to repay TARP money but it’s far from clear.. Do you suppose any of this news penetrates the mush brain of obozo or is he still out to lunch? Much too busy trying to figure out how to scam as many people as the Clintons did and make out as good as they did? Must be nice but I’d rather be able to look at myself in the mirror in the morning - or afternoon - or evening.. They arrived on “our scene” oblivious to what this country is about and departed the same way!
