I read a book long ago that mentioned the same origin for mankind, and it even mentioned a global disaster that wiped out most of the life on earth.
LOL!! What I said!

The title and author would be very useful for us, thanks.
Noah
But weren’t Noah and his wife parents of the males in the other three couples? That would make he and his wife the oldest surviving progenitors, post-apocalypse grandparents of the human race.
It’s a scientific Theory and only a theory. There are very few scientific Laws.
Theories are allowed ... required... to be challenged to further science.
***Evolution isn’t assumed. It’s a fact.***
You can’t observe it (although Dawkins once made the statement: “Evolution has been observed, its just never been observed while its happening”.... a really inane statement)
You can’t test it, you can’t repeat it (because you can’t test it), you can’t falsify it.
Because of the above and because there is another alternative, creation that is viable, evolution is philosophical based on the premise that there is no creator.
To be fair, creation is not testable either. However, natural law points to creation quite dramatically.
Genesis 7:7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.
Noah's daughters-in-law were not descendants of Noah and his wife.
The only two people from whom all humans are descended can only be Adam and Eve.
When I was a student, we had to determine what elements were in laboratory test samples. You run a whole bunch of chemical test procedures. Some can be detected only very ephemerally- like a tiny tiny whisk of green in a flame, almost imperceptible. Basically, you had no choice but to keep running repeating the testing - over and over again and finally your sample was all burnt up so you just had to guess. Its always seemed like maybe the good Lord is just trying over and over again with us to craft an acceptable , correct result ?
Noah, his wife, his 3 son’s and their wives all trace their ancestry to Adam and EVE, through the mitochondrial DNA that all humans get from their mothers.
RE; I was thinking more of Mr. and Mrs. Noah.
There were 8 people in the Ark, 4 couples.
Noah and his sons and wives came from Adam and Eve.
The Genesis story of creation may turn out to be more accurate than the “educated” eggheads want to admit. The timelines are different but the events seem to be following a biblical pattern. Intelligent design is far more logical than the theory of evolution. The odds on the evolution theory take more faith to believe than a creationist I would think.
Want to really watch heads explode, just for fun suggest it was aliens who created the catastrophic event to correct deviations in their experiment.
Nope. Noah, Ark.
There should be a maximum of 4 haplogroups of mitochondrial DNA, but all men should belong to the same Y-DNA haplogroup.
But they wer3 all related to... Noah and his wife.
Was Mrs. Noah’s name Joan?
Multiple arks? Could have been carried by swallows...
