He's been professing his Christianity or a while now. It's not a new coverion. He's been professing his faith for the last 3 years, and keep in mind, he's only 24. Actually, looking at the comments inthis thread, he has a better grasp on living in Christ than many of the commenters on this thread. Way to prop up a brother, guys.

Fom an aritlce in 2015in Complex magazine...

https://www.complex.com/music/justin-bieber-interview-2015-cover-story

“I think that people, as soon as they start hearing me saying I’m a Christian, they’re like, “Whoa Justin, back up, take a step back.” Also, I do not want to shove this down anyone’s throat. I just wanna honestly live like Jesus. Not be Jesus—I could never—I don’t want that to come across weird. He created a pretty awesome template of how to love people and how to be gracious and kind. If you believe it, he died for our sins. Sometimes when I don’t feel like doing something, but I know it’s right, I remember, I’m pretty sure Jesus didn’t feel like going to the cross and dying so that we don’t have to feel what we should have to feel. What Jesus did when he came to the cross was basically say, “You don’t have to feel any of that stuff.” We could take out all of our insecurities, we could take away all of the hurt, all the pain, all the fear, all the trauma. That doesn’t need to be there. So all this healing that you’re trying to do, it’s unnecessary. We have the greatest healer of all and his name is Jesus Christ.”

“If we can understand that we’re all imperfect, let’s come to God and come for his help. You’re not weak by doing that. I think that’s a common misperception of Christians, that you’re being weak because you can’t handle it. None of us can handle this world, dude! It’s eating us alive. But, man, I don’t wanna have to do it on my own. “

This kid, so roundly rebuked out of the gate, had a better grasp on his faith and personal relationship with Jesus than most of the schooled individuals on this site. We're three years out from that interview and he is still going strong.

So all of you that crapped on this guys faith, because you think you are better, smarter or closer to God need to take a step back.

2 Timothy 3:12-13

12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

I wonder if Paul knew or foresaw that that persecution would come from other believers.

then why did he have hush civil ceremony marriage and not church/christian wedding?

Maybe he didn't want it ruined by hundreds of paparazzi trying to stick their cameras in his and her faces?

I believe he was a Christian as a young man before he hit the big time.

You said.....”This kid, so roundly rebuked out of the gate, had a better grasp on his faith and personal relationship with Jesus than most of the schooled individuals on this site”.......

Justin Bieber is not an individual that mature Christians would use as a measuring rod regarding other Christians relationship with God on FR.

I don’t have a clue how a guy in his position goes there, but if he means it I hope he does it well.

Are the following quotes a good measuring stick for the Christianity, as expressed here on FR?

“the marriage wont last more than a year.” -Secret Agent Man

“I don’t think Justin is sane enough to stay married. certainly not mature enough.” -Cyclops08

“Maybe join a church? For heavens sake, not Travolta’s.” -Beowulf9

“Crucify him. He’ll yell quit on the first nail. He’ll take the slow path like every other sinner, unless he dedicates his fortune to the Mother Theresa foundation, and wears humble weeds for the rest of his life. Then he could have a chance at the redemption every human seeks.” -Candor7

“He’ll OD before 30.” -SMGFan

Doesn't sound very Christlike to me. It actually sounds like judgment, and it's not their place to do that.

So compared to the folks who made the above posts, I think Justin exhibited far more understanding of what it means to be In Christ, especially considering he gave the interview three years ago.

I pray this is true. He’d be a great witness.
