Firefighters from California's Foster City Fire Department on Monday came to the rescue of a cat who was burned in the Camp Fire, which has left at least 48 people dead and over 100 missing.
The cat named "Foster" was meowing while hiding in the bushes of a property that firefighters were checking, the department wrote on Facebook.
Foster was coaxed out of hiding by Firefighter Downing, and "an instant friendship was formed."
"The cat had burns to its whiskers and bottom of its paws. [Engine 28] crew were able to get some much needed food and water for the feline," fire officials stated.

Kitty ping — happy ending
Awww, so happy the kitty was saved. My own kitty Bijou must have felt the vibe, as she got up and started butting my hands on my keyboard to get petted just as I read the story.
I hate cats, mostly an allergy thing...well that and I am into birds.
What an uplifting story.
I would feed that kitty and feel great about making another of Gods creatures more comfy.
The fires have been tough the last couple of years.
Clean your underbrush California. You bring these things on yourself.
You can like both cats and birds.
My cats never hurt birds.
I even had birds come into the house through the window, when my screen got torn.
Nonsense. There is absolutely no connection between not clearing underbrush so that the cute bunnies can have more brush to play in and the infernos that strike California. The infernos are caused by global warming, racism, patriarchy and Trump's homophobia.
I saw that heartbreaking photo on Drudge and was hoping someone would provide help or make a decision (not sure why they took time to take a photo of the poor thing, which was obviously in great pain). Thanks for posting that the cat had passed. I was wondering.
I hear nothing about the fire caused by PGE electric lines sparking. PGE has admitted it and PGE Stock has tanked as a result. Why is their negligence not being discussed?
You could tell she could not have made it...hopefully they put her down quickly... I hate seeing an animal suffer as she obviously was.
Thank you, firemen.
I have seen at least one article about PGE being responsible for the fires.
I don’t know what is the real story.
How about the horse that fell/got into a swimming pool? There was a cover on the pool & she got tangled up in it, but she wasn’t burned. She was quite cold, tho. She is doing fine.
PG&E cannot put the lines underground, and they cannot stop the wind.
IF you were running PG&E, what would YOU do?
I sit corrected
