Las Vegas Sportsbook Sets Bills as 28.5-Point Favorites in Hypothetical Matchup With Alabama
SI ^ | November 8, 2018 | Michael Shapiro

The Bills and Crimson Tide have existed on opposite planes in their respective leagues this season with Buffalo sitting in the AFC East cellar at 2–7 and Alabama cruising toward an undefeated season at 9–0. It's a common practice to compare the best college team to the dregs of the NFL and while the debate can provide a fun parlor game, it exists fully as a hypothetical.

Yet despite the lack of on-field feasability, Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook is bringing a touch of reality to the matchup by setting the Bills as 28.5-point favorites against Alabama per OddsShark.

If Nathan Peterman is the QB I would take 'Bama. Tua is orders of magnitude a better QB than Peterman. The LSU secondary are probably better athletes than the Bills.

I would definitely take that bet. I don’t see Buffalo beating that spread.

I think the problem would be grown men against growing men on the lines.

The Bills defense is pretty good, though (the offense is horrible - terrible O-line and group of receivers, no QB would succeed with this bunch). They’d make it tough for Alabama to score any points, but the Bills offense might help make a game of it for the Tide.

They’d win by 50.

Assuming the Bills players were motivated enough.

It’s not the Buffalo “Bills”, it’s the Buffalo “Bulls.” The Bulls are the college team.

Alabama’s defense could IMHO, easily contain the Bills pathetic offense.

The Bills Defense is not good, but isn’t historically bad like the offense is.

This is laughable.

The Bills would annihilate Alabama. They would score at will and Alabama would end the game with negative net yards of offense.

No, it is Bills. The article is about a bad NFL team stomping on the best NCAA team.<>
One of the big differences is speed. Pro players are much faster than all but the best college players. I think it was ESPN showing pro plays simultaneously with college plays and college looked like it was in slow motion. You don’t notice it as much when they aren’t side by side videos.

The Bills just made Bama Walk-on standout Levi Wallace active. Roll Tide!!! Go Levi! So proud of that fine young man!

6, maybe 8 players on bama are good enough to get drafted by the NFL. That is a huge number, but no where close to a team of NFL calibur players! I would take that spread and go with the Bills.

I don’t think it would be quite that bad, but the difference in the level of play from the NCAA to NFL is huge, and even a great team like Alabama is likely to only send a handful of long term players to the NFL and a few more who get a training camp invite.

While particular guys may be good enough right now, the overall team won’t be close and the play on the lines will be the biggest difference

Alabama is not that good. OU would hang over 50 points on them...

Locally, Bob Mathews (a local sports guy) has been saying this for a couple of weeks (that Bama would beat Buffalo).

Looks like Mathews has more juice in the sports world than even he thinks.

Yeah. OU is great! That’s why they lost to Texas. That’s why they choked like dogshit against Georgia. They are great. In your dreams...
