Conflict of interest
It seemed like a fairly straightforward and innocuous piece, so I’m not sure what the significance of it is supposed to be at this point in time.
It was shown on Saturday morning during cartoon time. I guess they wanted to get kids interested in current events.
I remember these. A Saturday morning staple.
Thought it was funny for them to be talking about ethics while showing Bert Lance. lol
Wow! That opening sound takes me back.
Too bad news stories aren’t presented that flat and straight anymore.
Narrated by Christopher Glenn, who passed in ‘06. A way to get kids a bit of current events info.
The syndicated oldies show Lost 45s has/had a segment where host Barry Scott would mention some news stories in a given year. The synth opening/closing of In The News served as backing.
Weird, just last night I was watching a YouTube video of Glenn covering the Challenger explosion, he really was about to lose it, he was pretty badly shaken by witnessing it. Perfectly understandable. I hadn't realized he had passed away so long ago, I was wondering whatever happened to him.
Christopher Glenn was cool, but the Schoolhouse Rocks segments over on ABC were da bomb!
I remember that too.

“significance”
Per the subject matter, it’d relate to accusations of Trump violating the emoluments clause due to his business holdings.
