Last night there was a controversial play that allowed L.A. to score 4 runs. With respect to that, I wrote this a few hours ago.

Harold Reynolds and Joe Girardi were on the post game show last night. They went into great detail about how they were sure that Bellinger interfered.
They got out on their little studio baseball field and showed how Bellinger ran up the first base line in FAIR territory. They both thought it was interference by Bellinger. They said if they were managing Boston they "WOULD HAVE BEEN SCREAMING" at the no-call.
But the umpires chose not to call it for some bizarre, perhaps cowardly reason.
And it being unreviewable, nothing happened and Boston scored 4 runs as a result.
Bellinger interfered and it wasn't called.
Reynolds and Girardi even included an illuminating few seconds of actual "film" from the game from a camera that had been placed DIRECTLY looking toward homeplate from the right field line --- directly down the line as Bellinger hurried to first base, running INSIDE the line the entire way. It was a judgment call by the umpire that he did not interfere. Reynolds and Girardi were vehemently disagreeing. (QUITE EXCELLENT OF THEM to call out the umpires on national tv!)
That to me was one of the worst (and important) non-calls in baseball history.

PS --- Bellinger is a smart kid. He was very sly. Being a left handed batter (as I was all my playing years), he knew that the natural momentum/force of a left-handed hitter after his swing is to pull your body out toward FOUL territory as you are leaving the batters box. He had to quickly and purposefully adjust and turn INTO THE FIELD OF PLAY so he could be a problem for the catcher. He is a very fast runner. The catcher's throw grazed him right before he got to the bag (he was still in fair territory).
The catcher should have DRILLED HIM right in the back. Then baseball fans may have gotten the correct call.
Gutless umps.
I do know baseball. Get a life you North Easterner. When the ball hit him he was right on the chalk line, about 3 feet from the bag. Quit crying like a Demcrat.

Heh cornball, just one last time for you.
Even if Bellinger had made his way back to "on the chalk line" as you say (which he did not), that is still not the test as to whether he violated the rule. THE FACT THAT HE OBSTRUCTED THE CATCHER'S SIGHT LINE and THROWING LINE to first base the entire time he ran down the line INSIDE the line is the definition of the interference rule.
The two all-time great baseball men, Harorld Reynolds and Joe Girardi were emphatic on the postgame show that he obstructed and should have been called out. They even put together a full, detailed 12 minute segment to illustrate to baseball fans what they saw. (Did you happen to see it? It was on about 1:30 EST.)
To conclude, I KNOW that those two excellent men and myself know a great deal more than you have ever considered about the game of baseball. Just enjoy it as the mysterious and ever perplexing game that it is.

Bellinger out on interference | 07/13/2018 | San Diego Padres (This time, from earlier in the summer, Sneaky Bellinger was even further inside the line breaking the rule..... but gets nabbed this time.) LOL
____________
That is true.
Who, may I ask, proclaimed that?
__________
You have quoted a pertinent part of the rule. That is good.
However, in recent writings of the rule this part, "and in the umpires judgment in so doing interferes with the fielder taking the throw at first base" has been correctly extended to also referring to INTERFERING WITH THE CATCHER'S THROW TO FIRST BASE.
Enjoy Game 5 .......... it's great so far.
Irrelevant to the play I saw. He was right over the chalk line on that play when the ball passed him. Grow up.
You may be too stubborn/stupid to breath. Be careful.
What a man that Bellinger . a selfish, over zealous swing at a two strike 99 mph rising fast ball when his team was down four runs.
Bad baseball Corey Bellinger . a player of dubious ability when it counts.
(At least he has a great arm from centerfield and he runs very well, especially out of the base paths.)
Congrats to the Boston Red Sox. They are one fabulously entertaining and complete team.
PS --- If I were a Dodger fan I would have been grossed out by my teams last SIX BATTERS striking out to end the season. PATHETIC!
A long winter in La La Land.

Try an almond macaroon some day. It will make all this back and forth worthwhile.

From Reddit the other night .
Bellinger should have been ruled out on rule 6.05 (self.baseball)

A batter is out when:
(j) in running the last half of the distance from home base to first base, while the ball is being fielded to first base, the batter-runner runs outside (to the right of) the three-foot line, or inside (to the left of) the foul line, and in the umpires judgment in so doing interferes with the fielder taking the throw at first base; except that the batter-runner may run outside (to the right of) the three-foot line or inside (to the left of) the foul line to avoid a fielder attempting to field a batted ball;
BELLINGER HAD BOTH FEET CLEARLY INSIDE THE LINE WHILE RUNNING TO FIRST, EFFECTING VAZQUEZ' ANGLE TO MAKE THE THROW.
Umps blew this one.
Bottom of Form
The ball was not being fielded to first base it was being thrown from home he was running on the middle of the chalk line. No interference.
There's always someone who just started watching baseball last month.
OK, moron. I tried to be nice, but you clearly do not understand English. You showed a rule refering to a batted or bunted ball that is fielded and thrown to first. This refers to where the runner is in that situation. The play that happened is a throw from the plate on a ball that was not fielded by the catcher but was thrown to him for a fielder’s choice. Get the correct rule and then come back.
Goodbye.
Go away.
You are incredibly ignorant about baseball. Go study "interference" during the reception of a thrown football.
Maybe you will do better, kid.
