The Tigers record this year: 64 - 98..........LOL!
Before that the bases were loaded, there was a hot grounder to first base...... the Boston first baseman quickly fired to the catcher at home plate forcing the runner coming home. The catcher then threw back to first for the double play.
The ball hit the runner. THE RUNNER WAS CLEARLY RUNNING TO FIRST BASE ..... IN FAIR TERRITORY.
I played and have followed baseball for over 65 years. I always was rather SURE that the runner could not run to first base in FAIR TERRITORY and interfere with the catcher's throw. If he did so and got hit with a throw from the catcher like tonight ........ he was an automatic out.
What the hell happened with that call? The runner/hitter should have been called out.
Any opinions?
If that call was made correctly the Dodgers would not have scored at all in that inning.
