On the subject of "priceless comments", the best (or worst, depending upon your perspective) I ever had to deal with was during one time my (ex)wife and I were new members at a small black church.
This was just after the big Aids scare that forced almost every church to change from the traditional one large communion chalice to be using the tiny 1/2 oz communion cups now being used today. However the other thing that they did, really surprised both of us and nearly caused a huge uproar during that most holy & solemn ceremony in this small church!
So as the ushers were passing the communion elements down the aisle to the people sitting in their seats, I noticed that instead of the expected Loaf of Bread in the serving tray, they had these tiny white baked crackers in it! When it reached to my (ex)wife, she looked at it for a moment of surprise & confusion, and then blurted out to me "CHICKLETS??" reffering to the tiny candy gum sold in stores.
Everyone suddenly went rigid & shocked at her surprising naive public comment about the communion biscuits! I just sat in my seat as I wished that I could just shrink to near invisibility, to avoid the hot scowls of disappovals from the leaders and other members of the congregation, who now turned in their seats looking at us!
I wish that I could say that the leader of the church smoothed out that very public embarrassing moment for us, but alas he didn't, and I felt were were marred & marked forever among them for that Naive comment!
Totally! Robotics in government are waaaaay ahead of where civilians are.
