NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The security force of the future is already patrolling several neighborhoods in the Tri-State Area.

The robotic protectors can see what you’re doing and even talk back to you, but the machines created by a New Yorker have prompted serious privacy concerns, CBS2’s Clark Fouraker reported Tuesday.

One of the models, named “Rosie,” uses the same technology as a self-driving car to patrol the sidewalks at the Lefrak City Apartments in Queens.

Someone on the source site made an interesting comment. Too easy to duplicate the shell.

Very interesting

I could see something like this happening ONCE they become commonplace and people don't notice them anymore.

If thieves can copy ATM machine keyboards to snatch your credit card numbers, duplicating this shouldn't be difficult.

Just another reason to avoid popular public spaces in the big cities.

“Robo Cop” was an interesting movie. Quite enjoyable.

The sequel... not so much.

I’ll take Daleks over Terminators.
They look human. Sweat, bad breath, everything.
You’d have to wait until they moved on you before you could zero them.

Yeah, Terminators could bring on an “extinction event” cause they mimic human abilities and thoughts(to an extent)

Of course that also limits them as well. ( i.e., Running like humans limits their speed to a point, though they could be faster and have more endurance than humans)

Very dangerous if and when they become feasible.

i expect “sex robots ” will “self actuate" and get tired of getting f%ck$d over and turn on their masters. ("Think ex wife or ex girlfriend)(Snicker, snicker)

According to the novels (Yes, I am a nerd), the 800 series Terminators could run at 22 miles per hour.

They ruined the Daleks in the new season - Daleks don't fly!

Tom Baker, best of all Doctors.

I wanted to turn my Daughter's baby walker thing into a Dalek shell... she suddenly stopped wanting to use it.

I believe that low low budget is what made the series so good. The series relied on good stories, not special effects & other distractions.

Just like Blake's 7- still enjoyable.

“Flying Daleks”

OMG!

It’s been awhile but didn’t they teleport or something?

Yeah I enjoyed the Baker years, the guy that followed wasn’t terrible, a blonde guy...IIRC. Just that college and the real life beckoned me with her bedroom eyes and sci-fi lost it’s luster.(HeeHee)

Didn’t know there was a novel(s)

22 miles seems reasonable(for a bionic biped)

Still wouldn’t outrun a fast car... or a really large caliber round(.50)

But a human on foot would be .....neutralized.

Yeah, Colin Baker was that guy - I think he wore a celery sprig pinned to his coat. Always that was some "anti Welsh" thing.

I was in grade school then but now I've no excuse - still a nerd.

I can just hear the big armed robots from Robocop:

“You are illegally parked on private property. Remove your vehicle. You have 10 seconds to comply......”

And since it will be in a big city run by Democratic Union goons it will ask:

“You are illegally wearing an MAGA cap. Remove your hat and any offensive from your possessi---(brrrrrrrrrrrap!) You have 10 seconds to comply......”

Ooops too late as it opened fire on "non-compliant persons".

Is that what he was wearing.... Sometimes I just don’t get our British cousins cultural references.
