NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) The security force of the future is already patrolling several neighborhoods in the Tri-State Area.
The robotic protectors can see what youre doing and even talk back to you, but the machines created by a New Yorker have prompted serious privacy concerns, CBS2s Clark Fouraker reported Tuesday.
One of the models, named Rosie, uses the same technology as a self-driving car to patrol the sidewalks at the Lefrak City Apartments in Queens.

Interesting but totally useless for "security". I'm waiting for them to be armed, then they will acquire self awareness then hunt humans down like Daleks

Meet your robotic "Mall Cop"
And just as useless as an unarmed mall cop. Worse. Even an obese mall cop can right himself if tipped over.

Someone on the source site made an interesting comment. Too easy to duplicate the shell. Some bad actor could duplicate the shell, have wheels with rf control, stick a bomb in it and send it right into a crowd. And these things are already at LaGuardia airport.

I always wondered why Daleks needed a toilet plunger.

Because the BBC budget was 3 pounds 5So the Daleks were doubling as janitors for the same pay?

They started as latrine maintenance droids. Then, they joined a militant splinter group of the International Brotherhood of Custodians.

That much?
I know Dr. Who got peanuts for a budget but they kept it going for decades anyway.

Yeah, never figured out that one either. Used to be a fan when Tom Baker was the Time Lord back in the late seventies and early eighties when it ran on the local public TV channel.
Used to think the Daleks were awesome til I figured that any enemy machine that was foiled by a curb or stairs wasn't really a threat to mankind.(Snicker, snicker) Now the graphics and storyline seems to be a bit dated and I can't get into the modern PC Dr Who. Sad, really.

Yeah, but after a while that voice really gets annoying. Plus any enemy of mankind ain’t such a threat if a curb or a flight of stairs foil their dastardly schemes..
Still I did enjoy the Tom Baker years..

Dunno about that. Maybe I got a filthy mind(holdover from my misspent youth) but I would worry some pervert security geek would try to use it as an "upskirt camera"

Because the Second Amendment doesn't apply to your average New Yorker(or any other big city folks) but robots do!
