“Still like Windows 7 better, heck, even XP!”
Mine all run Windows 7; I gave my Windows 10 to Hubby. My girlfriend’s husband just got a new system, and he has promised me his XP when he’s done with it. I can’t wait. The XP Recorder is great.

THIRD PARTIES COOKIES ALLOWED in IE settings.
That's the one that 'gets' me (though since I only check it after updates, in honesty, it MAY be caused by something else).
No big deal- just a hassle having to recheck everything.
Yikes, yeah that’s worth a warning. I’ll re-ping the Windows Ping List, and if the comments come back with bad experiences, it’ll be worth a fresh warning thread.
Thanks to Alas Babylon! for the heads-up on this one!
Microsoft says:

Alternatively use a different device to contact us at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus/ (link will vary according to country of origin).
If you have manually downloaded the Windows 10 October 2018 Update installation media, please dont install it and wait until new media is available.

Not touchin’ that b*tch. Fortunately, I have backups, in case that b*tch auto-updates.
If we’re still running Win-7 Pro x64, is this a “worry”?
Windows is a sh*t show.
Thank you
As a fellow Win 7 user (til the day I die, but I'm old :), this is most definitely not a worry.
Win 7 Pro x64 continues to hum along on my Lenovo S30 ThinkStation without a problem.
Solid state disks are a blessing. No noise, minimal heat, boot in 20 or so seconds. What's not to like :)
Thank you. I have 1803 and I just turned off automatic updates.
With Winders, I believe the phrase is ‘UP the chute’.
looks like this is Classic Shell rebranded to Open Shell on 8/5/2018.
https://github.com/Open-Shell/Open-Shell-Menu/blob/master/README.md
I am using the last Classic Shell version...so far, so good.
No guts no glory...I’ll install the newset version.
MS has this caveat as of 10/06/2018:
We have paused the rollout of the Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809)* for all users as we investigate isolated reports of users missing some files after updating.

thanks, I’ll dload a copy of that incase classic shell stops working due ot upgrade of windows 10 by accident
sorry...I really need to read the whole thread before I clutter up the thread with a duplicate post.
so far, it’s transparent. I can’t tell which is which. I uninstalled classic shell first. I suppose I could read release notes. Take care.
No worries, mate :-)
I was thinking of posting an entire new thread on the warning, but so far it doesn't seem warranted -- very few reported instances of actual damage.
