I graduated high school in 1979 in California. Boof meant flatulence. A good friend of mine was known at school as “King Boof” for the obvious reasons. I suspect my yearbook has a reference to this somewhere in the signatures.

Yeah, I'm not really happy with my presentation.

Mx Granger references the following quotes as reference for his revision....although how good a source for info is 'Usenet'?
He seems to have a gone through a search of esoteric sources to find justification for the Dem interpretation.

I knew a guy in Santa Cruz in 1969 that used the word boof all the time ... his polite way of saying fart ...

Nellie was his name.
