and guitarist Paul Kanter thanked Hell Angels for doing it...
I thought he was being sarcastic like “thanks a lot... still have a show to do..
I snuck away and went to that event, only for a few hours so my mom wouldn’t catch me. I grew up in Livermore. I remember the streets in town were full of Hells Angels.
I loved Jefferson Airplane
Pillow was the first 33 rpm I ever bought
Mainly for Somebody to Love
I was infatuated with the whole San Francisco scene as a kid and up into college
I went and hung out eight years late for summer of Love
Dope and hang arounds
Yosemite was much better and more to our liking ....the friends with me
Actually mid 70s Santa Cruz was better....an old friend of mine ....acid chemist....Mickey
Little bitty guy with hair to his waist
Famous in those parts
Being a Mississippi southern style freak ....folks who left town for the scene went to San Francisco or Austin or Boulder
Folks didnt go to Portland or Seattle or Nashville then as a youth thing
I cant deny there was a time that song mattered to me
The slower more piano oriented version on Worst....which is the single version that had We Can Be Together is better to me
I think in her day Grace Slick could flat out wail...serious pipes..
A rock singer chick...
And Jorma Kaukonen is a very underrated axeman....hes good enough you hear the first few notes you know its him if you know the airplane or tuna
I know hippie bands are eschewed here and JA is not nearly as musical as CSN
But their raw energy just did more for me ....and the psychedelia spoke to me....Im listening to Eskimo Blue Day right now....
Man it brings back memories
Hell I even liked Grunt
