Russia is a Fake Partner against Terrorism
Europe's Edge ^ | June 2017 | Janusz Bugajski

Posted on 09/22/2018 2:48:17 PM PDT by CondoleezzaProtege

Connections between the Kremlin and international terrorism extend back for decades. The KGB helped develop modern terrorism. It provided weapons to terrorist groups, including Hezbollah, helped devise aircraft hijackings during the 1960s, and promoted the concept of suicide bombings against both military and civilian targets. According to KGB defectors, the FSB successor has continued to sponsor terrorists such as Ayman al-Zawahiri, who trained in Russia in the 1990s before joining Osama bin Laden.

During its proxy attack on Ukraine, Moscow supplied the missile system to separatists who shot down a Malaysian Airlines jet, killing nearly 300 civilians. The West has been reluctant to declare Moscow’s proxy groups—the People’s Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk inside Ukraine—terrorist organizations despite their deliberate targeting of civilians. This is primarily a political decision in order to protect Russia from being recognized as a terrorism sponsor.

In the Middle East, the Kremlin’s allies are America’s enemies. In Afghanistan, Russia provides military assistance to the Taliban against the central government supported by Washington.

Moscow also supports Hezbollah against Israel and is the primary ally of the Iranian government.

In Syria, Moscow’s military campaign is not directed against Islamic State (IS)... Putin’s primary objective has been to prop up the regime of President Bashar al-Assad and thereby guarantee Russia’s ongoing military and intelligence presence in the region.

The largest number of IS militants are being recruited inside Russia, especially as the FSB has encouraged local Islamists to travel to Syria and Iraq on the assumption that this would reduce insurgencies in the North Caucasus and increase pressure on the West. Among the thousands of Russian citizens recruited by IS, there's little doubt that the Kremlin has infiltrated its operatives into the upper reaches of the organization where they can influence decision-making.

(Granted: our traditional allies haven’t always been the best partners either. But still no excuse to trust Putin.)

They want to win, and they don’t want to come in second place. Duh. They will seek to win by any means.

So, if we don’t want to lose, we have to accept that and act accordingly. Or we lose.

It’s not too complicated.

the Soviet Russian government INVENTED the entire Fakestinian “narrative” bullsheet as a means of fostering terrorism (and attacking Israel and the western nations by proxy)....and they trained the terrorists, too..... both Arafat hisself and many many of the Fakestinian murderers since that time...

Putin? He looks to me much better.. like he wants to repair the Soviet’s damage..... but I have no inside knowledge if this is actually correct, its just how it appears

“like he wants to repair the Soviet’s damage”

The Putin Oligarchy looks tame compared to the Soviets. It’s apparent the man loves his country and will further its’ interest to the extent he and the nation are able.

But to conflate the current despotic regime with the Soviets shows an abject ignorance of history.

If the latest round of pension reform protests from today are any indication...plus the regional runoff elections in which Communist Party is leading in many areas...it is the Russian people themselves who want the Soviet Union back.

from today:

perhaps.
could be.
but it could also be SorozNazi- funded agitators making the ruckus...

he has a record of screwing around with many countries, not just USA

(note how many Americans go into the streets, often with SorozNazi funding and organizing..........to demand various similar hard-left or dictatorial schemes or programs or policies

anyway it could be some more Sorozzzzzzzzzzzzz ‘agitation’ .... inside Russia ? he’s attacked Russia several times already...

I’ve seen hundreds and hundreds of dead ISIS members and Al Qaeda fighters after they were killed by Russia forces in Syria.

So I know for a fact that the entire premise of this “article” is Fake.

Yup they throw some of the ISIS/Al Quaeda folk into the mix for kicks. Can’t be TOO blatant about their agenda *overall* which has far more to do with the Kremlin’s Neocon style empire building than with defeating Islamists.

Syrian schoolchildren under Assad continue learn to hate Israel, jihad for Palestine, and their textbooks continue to deny the Holocaust.

Meanwhile also under Assad: the study of the Russian language is mandatory in some grades as well as touting the achievements of Soviet society: Yuri Gagarin and all that.

I don't entirely buy that.

I doubt the FSB recruited them and payed for their transport.

The Islamists could come back better trained and supplied.

Whenever there is a crackdown anywhere those cracked down on are "encouraged" to move elsewhere, but his version doesn't smell right.

I think what the writer is saying (which I agree with) is that ISIS has successfully recruited many Russian nationals...as a large proportion of Russia’s population is in fact Muslim. Sunni also.

It’s not so much that the FSB recruits them directly, but that they use the phenomenon to their advantage.

Blowing Up Russia: The Secret Plot to Bring Back KGB [Power]

Alexander Litvinenko & Yuri Felshtinsky

This book, co-authored by Alexander Litvinenko, the victim of the notorious 2006 London polonium poisoning, attempts to demonstrate that modern Russia's most fundamental problems do not result from the radical reforms of the liberal period of Yeltsin's terms as president, but from the open or clandestine resistance offered to these reforms by the Russian special services. It was they who unleashed the first and second Chechen wars, in order to divert Russia away from the path of democracy and towards dictatorship, militarism, and chauvinism.

The authors alleged that the Russian apartment bombings and other September 1999 terrorist acts were committed by the Federal Security Service. Litvinenko and Felshtinsky wrote that the bombings were a false flag operation intended to justify Second Chechen War and bring Vladimir Putin to power.

Putin's Poison?
by Peter Brookes, November 27, 2006

The death of former Russian spy, Alexander Litvinenko, last week from radioactive Polonium-210 poisoning is the latest in a series of politically motivated attacks on the outspoken opponents of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"Over the next six years, Litvinenko became an anti-Kremlin journalist, accusing the Russian government of abuses during their battles with Chechen separatists in the 1990s, and the FSB's alleged 1999 bombing of 300 people in explosions at apartments in Russia that was used to justify its second war against Chechnya.

He also claimed two of the Chechen separatists who took hostages at a theater in Moscow in October 2002 during which 162 people died were working for the FSB. He also pointed the finger at the FSB for having trained al Qaeda deputy leader Ayman al-Zawahiri."

JULY 2017...

Trump, in Warsaw Speech, Criticizes Russia’s ‘Destabilizing’ Role in Ukraine, Syria

The president also reaffirmed his commitment to NATO’s mutual-defense pact

Jul 6, 2017

President Trump called Russia a “destabilizing” influence in Europe and the Middle East, and urged it to “join the community of responsible nations,” in his strongest remarks yet against the regime of Vladimir Putin, whom he is scheduled to meet Friday in Hamburg for the first time.

His remarks in Warsaw’s Krasinski Square, which marks the 1944 Warsaw uprising against the Nazis, came after the U.S. agreed to sell Patriot missiles to Poland. The president also used the opportunity to reiterate the NATO commitment to mutual defense, a declaration he did not make during the NATO summit in May, prompting consternation among U.S. allies wary of Russia’s ambitions.

“To those who would criticize our tough stance, I would point out that the United States has demonstrated—not merely with its words but with its actions—that we stand firmly behind Article 5, the mutual-defense commitment,” Trump said Thursday. “Words are easy, but actions are what matters. And for its own protection, Europe, and you know this, everybody knows this, everybody has to know this, Europe must do more.”

Trump has repeatedly said NATO members must spend more on defense—a position in line with past U.S. administrations. But he has been criticized because he appeared to suggest U.S. commitment to mutual defense was predicated on its allies’ defense spending. ...”

Donald Trump: 'Putin has eaten Obama's lunch, therefore our lunch, for a long period of time'

Mar 13, 2014
Eun Kyung Kim: TODAY SHOW (NBC)

Donald Trump slammed President Obama Thursday on TODAY for failing to take a stronger line against President Vladimir Putin in dealing with Ukraine, saying he feared Obama would now make up for lost time with imprudent moves to "show his manhood."

The real estate mogul and reality-TV star, who has criticized Putin for sending military troops into Crimea, said Obama must now take fierce steps to prevent the situation from escalating further.

"We should definitely do sanctions and we have to show some strengths. I mean, Putin has eaten Obama's lunch, therefore our lunch, for a long period of time," Trump said. ..."
