WEEKLY GARDEN THREAD SEPT. 14, 2018
freerepublic | Sept 14 2018 | greeneyes

he Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds.

From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.

This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you won’t be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked.

It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table(recipes)preserving, good living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!

NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed any time-and don't have to be about gardening.

End of another growing year as I started digging up the old corn plants in the garden and will be harvesting pumpkins soon...

This is a reza Macadonia pepper. I traded my jalapeños for a dozen of these to dehydrate and grind into powder for a shaker applicator.

These have an initial chocolate taste followed by a pungent sting.
Good for chili this winter.

Yes we have no Bananas today or ever over the course of it's 15 year life here on Humboldt Bay. It freezes most every winter but it is a great conversation piece...

Even tough the weather continues to be warm and humid, the plants are telling me that fall is just around the corner. Caladium is slowly dying back and the flower stalks on the coleus are dying back as well. Cucumber plants are finished, snapdragons starting to bloom once again. Tomatoes are going full tilt and I can hardly wait for them to ripen! My one and only marigold has bloomed! Taking cuttings of the geramium.

Saying prayers for you and your family.
