He's been in the blue suit for five years.

But Henry Cavill is reportedly hanging up his Superman cape as scheduling conflicts lead Warner Bros to rule out any future appearances for the actor as the DC Extended Universe superhero.

The Hollywood Reporter write that Henry, who has played Superman in three films, can't commit to a planned cameo in Shazam! and the studio is now also reportedly putting a stop to any future appearances in the franchise.

Batman is DARK, he’s always been the angst ridden DC character... watched his parents murdered, lives in a gritty city.. fighting corruption and crime in a battle that is largely futile, but keeps doing it night after night anyway.... Takes up the mantle of the bat to help intimidate, lives in the shadows.... etc etc etc.. You can’t get more angst ridden and anti-hero than the more adult batman renditions...

DC absolute effed Superman... Superman ISN’T DARK... if anything he’s the complete antithesis of dark... He’s Truth, Justice, the American Way... he’s A Boy Scout.. he does what is right, as he sees it, no matter the cost to himself... he is who he is because of it.... he’s the ideal.. He’s the character that would be just as willing to lay down his life to save 1 person in the dark with no one watching to know he had done it, as he would to lay down his life in front of millions to protect entire world. Their attempt to turn him into this was STUPID.

Batman V Superman was a wretchedly bad film for a lot of reasons, but one of the biggest was, because WB had screwed the characters up, they needed a pointless 3rd person in the storyline to get Batman and Superman to fight... when it was the fundamentally different world views that would draw them into confrontation and conflict. The Dark Cynical fatalist faced with a virtually indestructible alien who seems too good to be true, who puts faith in the system to a fault... of course they would, given the right set of circumstances be on opposite sides.

Then to shoehorn in doomsday for no real reason as well... It was a fustercluck.

They are doing the same mistakes with Aquaman... He’s not a wise cracking angst ridden bad arse... The character does have darkness in him, but it doesn’t manifest itself the way they seem to want to take him on film... He’s a character stuck between two worlds, belonging fully to neither... He will die to protect both of them, an yet still is not accepted fully by them...

My expectations of the film is it will be formulaic and largely forgettable, not because there is no depth to the character (and Aquaman doesn’t get the respect he deserves, he’s been in regular monthly for most of the past 60 years). I’d love to be proven wrong, his portrayal wasn’t as bad as I expected in Justice League.. we shall see how his independent film is.. but I am not expecting much.

It took Marvel about 10 movies to finally get to that fine balance they have now.

True ... but they kicked it off with that badass Iron Man movie. That was one heck of a start.

I haven't seen the most recent DC movies with Ben Afleck but the scenes i have watched on youtube show him mowing down people with the batmobile and shooting people. I am wondering "who's this murderous psychopath who's impersonating batman? Is it the Joker or something? When's the real batman going to show up to kick his keester?" But alas, we are told he is the real batman.

Batman has been portrayed in a dark manner since the 80s but he's dark because his parents were shot dead in front of him! It's a core feature of the character that he hates murder and he hates guns! But not in the current movies!

I dunno, he definitely looked the part, but I though he had zero charisma. Maybe it was the script/director holding him back, but he is pretty dull in everything I’ve seen him in.

I kind of liked Superman vs Batman (the Director's Cut), but I thought Man of Steel was incredibly boring. Endless shots of guys being punched and flying across the screen, with CGI buildings exploding. You really can have too much action in a film.

What a shame. I thought he was the best Superman so far. He looks like he was born for the part.

Yes, they wrote his character a bit dry, but Superman has never been a showboat. Still; they could have given him more depth of character. The one with him battling Batman was the worst written superhero movie yet. Only Batman was in character.

The idiots in Hollyweird will probably write him as a Trans male to female black/Hispanic guy who is trying to figure out how to get his junk lopped off.

Hollyweird has really spiraled in a big way due to all the SJW crap and lack of creative but realistic writing. The actors can only do what their character is written to do. Their job is to make it look and sound believable and dramatic. Give the character depth and complexity.

Wonder twin powers activate!

In the form of a kangaroo!

In the form of a bucket of water!

Yeah, those never made sense even as a ten year old.

That’s true. They weren’t bad movies, they just weren’t what they are able to produce now.

Only one really bad movie, since they started producing their own movies. Let us not mention Iron Man III in any conversation ever.

Ah, but DC were the ones who expected to do it one movie.

They released Man of Steel, it got lousy reviews and underperformed, and then they pretended like audiences absolutely loved it and were begging for more, since they decided to build an entire "cinematic universe" on that turd and "announced" about 20 more spinoffs and 4 sequels overnight BEFORE they had made ONE good movie.

They gave Zack Snyder and David Goyer a pat on the back for their medoicre film and rewarded them with a big juicy contract and ever more money to make oodles of followup movies. So Synder and Goyer happily obliged and started giving them even bigger turds, starting with Batfleck vs. Pseudoman.

Affleck is out as Batman too. He’s even in rehab for alcoholism at last report:

https://nypost.com/2018/09/12/ben-affleck-out-as-dcs-batman-following-henry-cavills-rumored-superman-exit/

https://www.eonline.com/news/964173/everything-we-know-about-ben-affleck-s-latest-rehab-stay

With BOTH Cavill and Affleck gone, its safe to say we’ll NEVER get anymore solo projects with their version of the characters, nor we will get any kind of followup film to Justice League set in the same “cinematic universe”.

And there’s only one thing I can say about that:

Comic book movies reached their zenith with “The Dark Knight.” I find the DC movies atrocious and the Marvel movies laughable.

Although Gal Gadot was quite hot as Wonder Woman.

I agree. I hated him in the role. Glad he is gone. Now if they could only manage to make a watchable movie now would be a plus!!!

Hollyweird has overdosed on these “superhero” films. I stopped watching them long ago. So boring, derivative and with ever-increasingly banal actors and actresses in them.

Cavill was an excellent Superman. One of the best.

But not THE best, and therefore easily replaceable.

There can be only one:

Truth, Justice, and the American frickin' way. None of this SJWLGBTQRXYZ crap.

Why do the characters have to cross over into each other’s movies? DC doesn’t have to be Marvel. They should do their own thing.
