Hawaii Braces for More Rain as Hurricane Olivia Barrels Toward Island

“Although it is too early to pinpoint any details with regard to specifics related to potential impacts to the islands, forecast confidence is increasing each day as the guidance remains in very good agreement,” the National Weather Service in Honolulu said.

Olivia would be the second tropical system to hit the Hawaiian Islands this year. Hurricane Lane dropped more than 50 inches of rain across the Big Island last month. The storm was the second-wettest tropical system to affect the United States and the wettest tropical system on record in Hawaii, surpassing Hurricane Hiki in 1950.

Some rain from Olivia could help Hawaii, nearly one-third of which is experiencing a moderate drought, according to the drought monitor released Thursday by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

This is obviously Trump’s fault, and one more reason why he must be impeached.

Pacific hurricanes have always been called Typhoons and have never been counted in the number of annual Atlantic hurricanes.

Now that the predictions of the hysterical global warming con artists are failing miserably, Pacific typhoons have become hurricanes and are in the news to make the numbers appear higher.

To the Left, it doesn’t matter what happens; it only matters what their media propaganda arm says happened.

So....calling it a hurricane makes it do more damage?

No, in this part of the Pacific these extreme low pressure anticlockwise cyclonic disturbances have always been called hurricanes.

Not quite. Cyclones in the Atlantic, Carribbean, and central and northeast Pacific (where Hawaii is located) have traditionally been called hurricanes, and in the northwest Pacific are called typhoons. In the south pacific and indian ocean they are just called cyclones.

I haven't read a lot about their rain, but what is it doing to the lava flow?

West Hawaii island could use some rain. Got virtually none from the previous storms.

So....calling it a hurricane makes it do more damage?

Only politically.

The Warmists predicted more hurricanes, but it hasn't happened.

Calling Pacific typhoons hurricanes, allows them to add them to the number of annual hurricanes, thus increasing the apparent number.

So they can say, "See? We were right!"
