Back in the early 1970s the brothers all had their afro hair picks. They would just stick them on the side of their heads in their fro’s when not in use.

I remember when angel food cutters became the "hair pick" and weapon of choice in schools, back in the 1970's. Until school administrators got wise and banned them. They made more sense if you had an afro.

Truth: I was bused to an integrated middle school that formerly had been a black high school. Because I had skipped a grade and not yet hit my growth spurt, I was small. At the school were 15, 16, and 17 year old black 8th graders, with facial hair and criminal records. Mostly an OK experience, except gym class, and flag football games in particular, which were definitely “Mind if we dance with yo’ dates?” occasions.

I just had to look that one up. Yes, it's exactly what it suggests. A high school that trains student to be automotive mechanics.
