WATCH GRID: The world’s greatest Week 2 college football schedule guide
SB Nation ^ | September 6, 2018 | Jason Kirk

You know how you really feel like eating a salad after a long weekend of fiestas? That’s kind of like Week 2 in college football.

(Those of us who watched CFB for five straight days in Week 1’s gorgeous sprawl while also eating like football fans throughout are living the metaphor to completion.)

Week 2 is light, but as WATCH GRID readers will get a little tired of hearing, every weekend of college football is good.

I would be embarrassed if I was a fan of The U, Michigan, and Florida State. They laid eggs in Week 1. The only game of interest during the afternoon is the Dawgs paying a visit to Columbia, SC @ 3:30 pm. The temperature will be HOT at kickoff. There are a couple of intriguing prime time games. Clemson will be visiting College Station as Dabo Sweeney once again battles Jimbo $$$$$ Fisher. The real USC visits the Farm at Stanford. In some could be interesting games. The battle of PA sees Penn State visiting Pitt. Herm "You Play to Win the Game" Edwards will face his first real test as a college football coach as Sparty visits Tempe. In the cup cake games 'Bama hosts Arkansas State and THE Ohio State University hosts wretched Rutgers.

Rutgers is New York’s adopted CFB team. Therefore, I hate Rutgers and would love to see the Buckeyes hang 100 on them. I’m concerned about the Buckeye’s defense, but the offense will be very good this year. Haskins is the real thing.

Go Bucks!

As a native NYer nobody gives a rats arse about Rutgers athletics. Probably the most popular college team in NY area is Notre Dame followed by Penn State.

“As a native NYer nobody gives a rats arse about Rutgers athletics. Probably the most popular college team in NY area is Notre Dame followed by Penn State.”

The Big 16, (formerly known as Big 10), thought NY’ers would love Rutgers if they admitted them. As someone not in the NY area, all I know is what I see from the media. My sense is the media is pimping Rutgers, and I assumed, (maybe mistakenly), that NY’ers were getting onboard with Rutgers.

No matter, I still hate them, and pull for whoever is playing them, even Michigan.

The only reason Rutgers got invited into the Big 10 = 16 was to force all cable subscribers in the NY metro to pony up for the Big 10 = 16 network.

I never had much use for that website. Clemson at aTm is a maybe watch? After FSU’s face plant last week this will now be our hardest game of the regular season. If somebody hopes for Clemson to lose, this will be their best chance to see it. Of course we wont.

Clemson is the only real team outside the SEC. They, like Alabama, have very light schedules this year.

When Alabama has a “light” schedule including Auburn, Miss State, LSU and Ole Miss, that would be considered a season wrecker at most NCAA programs. It is because, again, most schools don’t play real football, but most especially the big 16. Not that they never have good teams. Some are outstanding. I don’t mean there are never time Suzies who will pop up and do astounding things (like when Utah dismembered Alabama in a bowl a few years back!). There will be good teams that have tremendous athletes and all that. I am talking about consistent powerhouses who produce winning teams that would be perched atop their conference perpetually anywhere but the SEC. I am talking about Miss State, Ole Miss, Georgia, Auburn, LSU, Alabama, with sometimes being Tennessee, Arkansas.

I am just saying that most of the football outside the SEC is not real football, and that the “big 16” is the most overrated joke of a conference out there.... possible exception being PAC 12. Hate me for saying it all you want, but yes, I am a snooty Alabama fan and an even snootier SEC snob.

It is a religion in the deep south and I am as bad as a snake waving howler in my fervent devotion. I love this season.

Really? Iseem to remember waaaaay back in December 2017 when the B1G demolished bowl foes with alarming consistency. The lone exception was a miserable Michigan ( Harbaugh- ` nuff said) that shouldn’t have even been in the game with SC. Still, pathetically coached and with worse ball control, they kept it to a single score game.
Keep drinking the sweet tea- flavored koolaid my FRiend.

I’m SEC TOO

LSU BAMA first

But Notre Dame fans are the worst and their media fawns

However the Irish have a good team this year

I was fortunate enough to watch in person two big Irish losses in my lifetime

Ole Miss beats national champion Notre Dame 20-13 in Jackson 1977

I was at Ole Miss then and was party buddies with Charlie Cage and Fast Freddie Williams and LQ and the QB who saved the day Tim Elllis

Later when I lived in Miami I watched the Canes beat the Irish in 1989 as revenge for convicts versus Catholics loss and dethrone a number one Irish

I took my Brasil wife and man she loved it....the old orange bowl....steel stadium like the old sugar bowl and right in the field

Thanks Irish for the phun
