I agree with you. Unfortunately, the United States is now as corrupt as any country on earth.
And it has a huge amount of ignorant, complacent people who don’t care as long as their personal well-being is fine. They do not have the ability to discern.
The dumbing down of the masses, attacks on our Judeo-Christian heritage and minimizing of our exceptionalism has been very effective.

I can’t disagree with a word you have written. Knowing that our country was once exceptional and how much we wanted to will a prosperous and peaceful nation to our children makes this so difficult to accept.
I truly thought we were different. I truly thought that every American, and especially those elected to high office or appointed recognized the wonderful gift our Founders gave us and would never do anything to sully our country.
