Well, for one thing, Detroit doesn’t have any intact blocks that look like that (those are 19th century row homes). Those buildings would’ve been torched to the ground decades ago, save for maybe one or two left to rot. As a result, Detroit hardly has any late 19th century homes left. Entire neighborhoods used to have breathtaking Victorian homes and mansions - nearly all gone now aside from a handful from poor to restored condition just blocks from the central business district (which actually is booming).

Went to Founder' last night for dinner & a beer. Got the hell in, then got the hell out. The area is better than it used to be, though.

“Again Stockton. What has happened to that town?”

In a word? Mexicans.

Chicago is probably like Kansas City. If you know what areas to avoid you don’t have any problems.

New Haven’s #4. A few more multiple, simultaneous OD’s on the town green and maybe it can move up the list.

How did East St Louis avoid this list?

St. Louis is #12 on the list.

In response to the snotty-sounding Brit who narrated the video

London is doing very well in acid attacks and stabbings.

St Louis has many nice, clean, safe towns surrounding it.

True of most cities on that list. You just have to know which places to avoid.

Where is Gary, Indiana on the list? Gary is just as bad as Camden...

Based on that picture, it looks like a good place to retire.

Based on the photo, I would expect real estate to be pretty cheap.

Not that I think Camden is anything but a craphole, but most of Chelton Avenue has been demolished and rebuilt. The place pictured, if that is Chelton Ave in Camden does not look like that at all. It looks new and clean.

Saprano’s was some good writing. Not much exaggerated on that show.

Agreed. My sister lives in Reno, her hubby is a retired sheriff. They are very happy there. Been there several times, never saw why it should be on such a list.

Yeah, why Reno? Parts of it feel old and tired, but its not really that bad. Nice river walk, nice parks and a fair amount of new development.

“Very sad places that are premier examples of incompetent, corrupt, far-left, racist leadership that thought they could get along fine without Whitey and the middle class.”

Indeed. Because that’s working so well in places like Zimbabwe and South Africa

".... I was born in Chicago, but my family left in 1950....."

Reminds me of when I lived in Arizona and would regularly stop by a hot dog vendor in Mesa for lunch. He had a table and chairs set out in the shade of a tree for people to eat and visit.

The hot dog vendor was from Chicago and his so his stand attracted a lot of former Chicago residents. They would hang out and swap stories.

One day, I was listening to these guys tell their stories about how great Chicago was. How nice a place it was to live. And on and on and on.

So, curious, I asked them if Chicago was such a great place to live, why had all of them moved to Arizona?

Their response? "Well it's not that great."

I remember the 1960s, and many of the areas destroyed by LBJ’s URBAN RENEWAL projects looked better than these eyesores left standing today.
