Cara Mund, the 2018 winner of the Miss America pageant, has traded in her crown for boxing gloves, blasting higher-ups as nothing more than mean girls who bullied, belittled and muzzled her.
“About two weeks ago, I started researching workplace bullying . . . Ultimately, this is my year in a nutshell,” the former Miss North Dakota wrote to former Miss Americas in a lengthy letter made public Friday.
“Our chair and CEO have systematically silenced me, reduced me, marginalized me, and essentially erased me in my role as Miss America in subtle and not-so-subtle ways on a daily basis,’’ Mund said, referring to Gretchen Carlson, who chairs the Miss America board of directors, and the pageant’s CEO...

If Roger Ailes did not have a fantasy about sex with a Miss America he would have gotten rid of Carlson a lot sooner. The most skill Carlson showed was in playing Ailes.

I did too, but she changed. She is from Minnesota and now it's obvious that she is cut from the same cloth as most of her home state compatriots. Minnosta's state motto should be "Minnesota, the SJW state."

I dunno. Being crowned Miss America is usually a big steeping stone on to bigger and better things. I probably wouldn’t have gone public with my beefs and burned a bunch of bridges.
What part of her being a packaged & promoted ‘Commodity’ or ‘Brand’ if you prefer, doesn’t she understand? They OWN you for the year they have you. It’s their way or the highway.
I think who REALLY got screwed was Vanessa Williams - though she ended up with a great singing career. It’s not like there haven’t been other examples along the way of how brutal Beauty Pageants can be.

Well she’s a bit on the chunky side for a Miss America beauty participant....though she’d do well in a full body pageant......but then the young gals today are all pretty fluffy or outright fat.
Doesn’t surprise me since they once elected a pretend navy SEAL, failed wrestler, and conspiracy nut jessica vagina.
Then there is their election of the equally reprehensible Stuart Smalley.

I agree. If their mission statement were carried out, I’d probably have no problems with it.
My perception was that it was set up to help young women with scholarships, and of course to make money.
I have no problem with either of those things, but they swerved way off track when they started to promote these young women as movers and shakers of public moral standings.
Sorry, but I’m not interested in what they think about Trump or national policy. If they want to address things like that, then start a political effort with that as the focus, and watch how many people stay away in droves.
The last Miss America is the last Miss America. Take the beauty out and what do you really have? Why then are they up on the stage? Strictly speaking, putting them up on the stage to be looked at is the same here's-da-meat, only a couple wraps short of a burka.
Once folks get an eyeful (actually there won't be an eyeful this time) - it will make the NFL turnoff look like a ratings increase.
