A restaurant chain is facing a lawsuit regarding a Harlem restaurant staff's refusal to serve a group of transgender woman and a gender nonconforming person.
Deja Smith, Daniele Marino, Jonovia Chase, Jahmila Adderley and Valerie Spencer claim they were told the Texas Burgers & Chicken on Frederick Douglass Boulevard and West 116th Street was out of chicken when they attempted to order there on May 28, but a customer directly behind them had his order taken, according to multiple reports.
A video of the discriminatory behavior went viral in May after it was posted to Instagram by "Orange is the New Black" star Laverne Cox, the Daily News reported. Lawyers representing the plaintiffs argued that the Texas Chicken & Burgers staff "tried to oppress the self-expression of Deja, Mila, Dee, Jenovia, and Valerie," the Daily News reported.
The group announced it would be suing the fast food chain last week during a press conference outside the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village, New York 1 reported.
"It's just not fair, honestly we didn't deserve that we just wanted to go and grab something to eat and go back to our apartment," Marino said, as reported by NY1.

Some discrimination is more equal than others.
If they refused to serve Sara Huckabee Sanders they all would be cheering on the restaurant
Exactly.
I need a time machine that will take me at least 220 years back.
I didnt watch the video
That’s interesting using “orange is the new black”. Aren’t leftists constantly calling our President “orange”?
In Harlem, they weren’t prepared to serve whatever weird people walked in?
The reporter looks like he's considering opening a restaurant just to deny service to that freakshow.
So much for Harlem's "gentrification".
Judge rules New York City bar can refuse service to Trump supporter wearing MAGA hat. Maybe one of these ‘people’ was wearing something offensive?
what a motley crew, apologies to the musical group by that name. This groups looks, how can we say, looks strange or like a group of oddballs??????
The lawyer representing The Happiest Hour, Elizabeth Conway, argued that he was not discriminated against because only religious, not political, beliefs are protected under state and city discrimination law.
Supporting Trump is not a religion, Conway argued.
The judge eventually made a ruling on the matter, saying the incident amounted to nothing more than a petty slight, the Post said.
Plaintiff does not state any faith-based principle to which the hat relates, Judge Cohen said. Here the claim that plaintiff was not served and eventually escorted out of the bar because of his perceived support for President Trump is not outrageous conduct.
Do we have to serve mentally ill freaks in our privat businesses. I won’t and I don’t’
“a gender nonconforming person.”
I find myself unable to keep up with all the permutations of the perversity of our age.
I am so tired and disgusted with the 24/7 freak show that our country has become because of the left.
No matter what crime, what sick behavior, what assault on normal people and simple right & wrong - no matter how repulsive they act, they skate. They always walk away after destroying another life, another institution.
I’m not religious, I can’t wait for the “hereafter” to administer justice. I need to see it here. But I probably never will.
