Our next civil war will not be a clash of opposing armies, but a violent and brutal wave of terrorist attacks, political assasinations and city destroying riots. I could see martial law being declared in some areas and US troops putting down the riots and restoring order. Imagine tanks surrounding the White House and Washington DC looking like post war Baghdad. Outside the larger cities well armed citizens, especially military veterans, will be defending their homes and communities. Rioters and looters will be shot on sight. CNN will be off the air due to cyber sabotage and left wing politicians will dare not show their faces. Elections will be tightened with US troops and National Guard on the ready at polling stations. Every citizen will have a national ID and illegal immigrants will be fleeing en mass. Leaders of the leftist rebellion will be rounded up and face war time justice under charges of treason and sedition. Many prominent leftist politicians, FBI agents and more than a few left wing journalists will be sumarrly executed or spend years in desolate prison camps. It make take at least a generation for things to resemble normal

Correct. I and others call it the War for Southern Independence for a reason. It was no more a civil war than what went on from 1775-1783. I am impressed that the author was not only fair but highly accurate in his historical characterizations of the two sides. That’s sadly, a rare thing nowadays.
This time, I could see some states seceding or even some areas of states as a seceding state had areas secede from it to remain in. I think that would be the best outcome. I cannot see another major armed conflict. We hold too much territory, are too numerous and too well armed for the Left to overcome.

If I thought there was an imminent threat, I would very much urge you to leave the shadow of a big city. However, with Trump putting people back to work, and with economic prosperity giving more people a stake in normalacy, I don't perceive there to be any immediate danger. In fact, i'm optimistic that some things are on the mend.
Of course I am reminded of the fact that Leo Szilard got out of Germany on the very last day possible, before they closed all the borders to fleeing Jews.

Likewise, in WWI, the Americans and Germans would have a temporary truce each Christmas so that they could celebrate this high holy day in their respective trenches. Then they would go back to shooting and, in the case of the Germans, gassing the next day.
Today, there is no such observance of a commandment. There will be no help from the other side during a respite, assuming anybody would even have a respite in CW II.
I have been thinking that as well. The first side to openly use large scale violence against the other will cause the existing power structure (those capable of using violence) to go after them. Once they identify themselves as a sort of rebellion, then it will clarify the response for a lot of people.

Well I think you are correct. I've written numerous times about American leftists making the miscalculation that what worked in Europe, Russia and China would work here. I have long maintained that America will be a shock for them, because people here have been raised to believe they have rights and independence, and they have never answered to a King or dictator.
American leftists are using the tactics and examples of revolutions among people who have never lived with American style freedom, and I think they are miscalculating seriously.
What worked in Russia and China will not work here, because Americans simply have a different mindset. At least they do right now. Let enough of these stupid and ignorant millenials take over, and perhaps then their manipulations may bear some evil fruit.

The author is far too optimistic about his prescriptions for resolving the conflict. If that was all it took, we’d already be there.
The left is asking to be destroyed, and they won’t settle for anything less. And yes, this means physically if necessary.
