$15,000 won't even pay for her first day in the hospital. With all the long term care and surgeries in her future, medical expenses probably will hit $300,000 easily. Probably more.

Incredible to me the people that remain of a mind to keep defending these dogs. This incident so flies in the face of their repeated defense that a loved pitbull would never hurt anyone.

There are people who have no business owning them or any dog for that matter. There are people who have no business owning guns as well.

I went to South Beach last year, it seemed like everyone had a Yorkie. Never seen so many in one town. They’d be a meal for a Pit.

Heelers are great dogs. They need
lots of room to roam and something
that keeps them busy. Ours was
catching frisbees at 6 months old.
Pit Bulls are bred for one purpose.
There’s a reason why they are the
preferred breed of dope dealers.

Some people are trying to pretend that pit bulls can be service dogs. A group that trains service dogs spells out why pit bulls, as well as other aggressive breeds, do NOT make good service dogs.

It seems all the dogs in shelters in our area have some pit in them. I wouldn’t have any of them.

...Yorkie...They’d be a meal for a Pit

My neighbor on one side just lost (not even a week yet) their Yorkie to the Pit owner neighbor on the other side. Yes, it was a meal, rather complete when I found the remains. These people have a 4 year old and a newborn in the house and they let that Pit indoors.

The dog breed most likely to bite you has been revealed

The culprit is a popular family pet

The dog most likely to attack has been revealed and it may come as a surprise.

The family favourite labrador is responsible for the highest number of canine attack personal injury claims, according to research by pet insurers Animal Friends.

And man's best friend is often postman's worst enemy with allmost a third of incidents involving delivery workers and postal staff.

Maybe this will cause the hysterical Pit Bull haters to take pause. Nah; they are thinking with their emotions not their brains.

Okay, now I am convinced the other way. I’ve had employees go through the process, the FBI come and talk to us as part of the background check of employees that had taken jobs requiring security clearance. Hey, conversation is good.

Boy, three, left with horrific facial injuries as Labrador savages him while his mother strokes puppy

Boy, 4, killed by family Labrador in horror attack

Now I don't post these links to show how bad Lab's are but rather to show that dogs are not to be taken for granted. I bet 99 out of 100 times the owner or human involved had something to do with these attacks but we don't hear about that.

For every one of these type stories there's a great story of a (insert breed here) and a person doing something amazing together.

Hysterics and thinking with your emotions is a decidedly leftist thing. It's sad to see it here on FR.

I think these threads are posted by people who want to churn up hate for Pit Bulls and by the look of many responses they get; it's working well. Going through life in total fear like this is no way to live.

Yes, I also found the comments very much worth reading, and helpful to use when encountering pit bull advocacy, which so often manifests as bullying. Thank you for posting this.

Yes, one must always find a label for those who disagree with your premise, and bully is as good as any other label I guess.

What label should we use for you who stokes hate? Hatemonger? Scaredy Cat? Dog Hater? Oh, I know, since you act like a leftist, let's use a leftist word for you. Anti-Dog Activist.

Snakes. What about snakes? They eat people. Sometimes they squeeze them to death then eat them.

Where are all your hysterical posts about snakes? Why is it just dogs you hate and are so afraid of?

When did this fear of dogs manifest itself? When you were a child or maybe more recently? It would be good to know in the effort to diagnose your mental illness.

Here; let me help you with that diagnosis. Your phobia is called Cynophobia

Now that you have a name for your mental illness perhaps you can seek help in overcoming it.

May I suggest your efforts would be better spent in treating your own illness but if you absolutely must pursue this dog bashing path you're on; at least have the decency to try and locate the cause of why all the dogs in the world are attacking people for seemingly no reason at all. I personally don't believe they are random. I believe these dogs were somehow provoked. I only know of one breed, Dobermans, that is known for developing a kind of doggie dementia at a senior age that causes them to act crazy and do things they normally wouldn't.

I will stipulate Pit Bulls are prone to attack other dogs; particularly when they are being territorial or protecting one of their pack or humans. I will also stipulate Pit Bull (owners) should make sure their dogs get the discipline, training, and especially the love they require to be great dogs. Having said that; I would think long and hard before having any of the bully breeds around small children or ornery teens. Teasing and/or provoking a bully breed is one of the dumbest things anyone can do. They might as well play Russian Roulette instead.

Here is a perfect but sad example of how small children can unknowingly provoke a dog attack. In this case it was some kind of "cross-breed". Not seeing any more info at this time.

Girl, 4, mauled by dog while playing in yard: 'You just don't ever expect that to happen'

Toddler's skull almost 'crushed' by brutal dog attack

A 4-year-old girl from Lancashire, England, could have died after her skull was almost crushed by a "devil dog" which savaged her while she played in a friend's garden.

Little Tillie was mauled by a cross-breed dog while playing at a pal's house and was taken to Lancashire's Royal Preston Hospital with horrific facial and head injuries.

Omgosh. How awful. I don’t understand the nativity, especially when it comes to the welfare of their young children.

Thanks Boomer for your good posts. As a child, my family owened a lab. It took 80 stiches to repair the face of a 7 year old who was 2 miles from home with no family readily available. But then what do you expect from a non-neurered male who just got kneed in the jewels?

He was provoked, for sure, and we were too young to know about these things.

I’m a 20+ year pit owner. I have 2 of them right now. My first whom could be trusted with my life, succumbed to cancer about 6 years ago. He will always be my hero.

The two I have now are good dogs, but honestly I wouldn’t give a nickle for a pit cross.

It seems to me that something happens in the cross that changes the nature of what used to be the United States Mascot.

I just bought one from the humane society and really, his name should be Clifford, the big red dog. My blue is my service dog, but she does tend to be protective of our yard and house.

Because these dogs are born with a yellow star on their coats, I learned a very long time ago that I must protect the dog f4om people, not the other way around.

And out of protection for my dogs, I won’t allow the neighborhood children to play with them. All it takes is for a heavy playfully dog to knock down a child and try to kiss the child in the face, and half the neighborhood will insist the dog is trying to eat the kid’s face off.

My dogs live with me for My pleasure, nobody else’s. Sometimes people approach who know how to approach a dog, and my dogs respond favorably. But, they can tell when someone is afraid, and then they become afraid. Fear isn’t a normal reaction in their world. It scares them.

I’ve seen people who have no business owning a dog, have the most vicious ankle biters in town. I thank God they don’t own a pit, or any other medium to large dog. Heck, a good many of these folks can’t even control their own 2 year old child. Any dog without training, disipline, exercise, is potentially vicious.

Some dum folks I know have vicious cats, too.

I do know that there are tons of people who don’t have a clue about dog ownership, and know even less about medium to large dog breeds. The girl down the street has this gorgeous Greyhound. She’s a sweetheart of a dog, but she doesn’t get enough exercise. She what did she do? She took her chunky owner for a nice run around the neighborhood! Off leash! I suggested she consider taking her to the giant dog park down the street, but she won’t because she’s afraid. Fearful people don’t belong around dogs.

I take both my pits to the park..they have a blast visiting the other dogs.
