Keep your son updated on his father
Had similar situation
If he knows whats going on, he can decide to come visit
or not
So keep talking even if its one-sided
God Bless you and your husband
I am really sorry for your loss of your brother, and that this life event has an unfortunate family issue tied to it.
There are a lot of good thoughts by others here. If I were in this unfortunate situation, I would do what is right for me, my family. There will only be one funeral, and when it is over, it is over. I would not want to regret not going. I cannot control what other people think, do, feel, how they express themselves, or how they might embarrass themselves. Nor would I give them the power to tell me what to do, think, feel or express myself in my sorrow of my loved one. Sometimes, doing the right thing and following one’s belief for someone you love is not going to be very easy. But in the end, knowing you did the right thing for you and your family will give you peace.
You are in my prayers.
While understandable sometimes, it’s terrible that politics has kept the family apart.
My condolence to you and your family.
This from the same group of people who accuse others of hate and intolerance.
I believe in freedom of association, and dissociation, there could be mutual benefits. After all who wants to be captured audience with such small minded, intolerant people just because one is related? Obviously there is no familial love there.
Knowing how some leftists are, they may call the police, file restraining orders, etc. Leftists create a scene, then claim that you threatened them. Civility does not matter to them, since they are blinded by hate. All you can do is pray for them. At least your brother got baptized.
“... my brothers own mother is not welcome at a funeral”
This isn’t about politics that’s just an excuse by your sister-in-law to never have anything to do with your brother’s family. Get your Mom dressed for the funeral, grab your brothers and their families, hold your heads high and go do what has to be done!
Once it’s over you can’t change your mind and your Mother’s pain is the worst pain in the world. Do this for her.
Good point, but I would add that it is not shared vision, but shared values (”the ground rules”). Polarity of visions would be able to survive where shared values are present. It is too long to write about, but the older I get, the fundamental breakdown in Judeo-Christian morality and belief has significantly brought us to this point - society is using the government to control from without as opposed to people previously controlling themselves from within.
Restraining Orders...
That’s a good point.
So sorry to hear your brother suffered with ALS. His pain is gone now.
Agree.
Jesus said, Let the dead bury the dead
They’s a whole LOT of this stuff going around .............my ‘family’ (so to speak) as well.
Notice that the hostility comes INVARIABLY from the left?
Just say’in.
Their loyalty is first and foremost to the state.
You’ll have to go to the cemetery when they’re not around.
The funeral would be over by the time they went to court to get a restraining order.
Restraining orders never cause leftists any concern in all their anti-social behavior. Let them go ahead and do it. Then comply...if it is issued. It would be hard to find a judge to agree that a mother and her sons attending a brother’s funeral to express their sorrow are a threat to others without any evidence of a threat of harm. Judge might see it the other way.
You made a choice.
Live with it. Respect their wishes. You managed to not be there to give literal support over the past two years. You turned your back on your brother during the time he needed it most. And you are surprised the family wants nothing to do with you?
Have you experienced someone dying of ALS? It is a nightmare for the victim and their support system and Family. You were not part of that system.
What should you teach your children? You should teach them that political positions that are exacerbated by the internet are not more important than blood relationship.
You are a fool. And you should kneel before God and beg his forgiveness. Their anger at you is not because of politics. Its because you turned your back when they needed your support.
You should not attend out of respect. You should not attend because you chose to let him die in your heart years ago. Why bother now?
I agree with your post. Evil is becoming much more brazen. But is that naive? Why are we seeing this now at this point in history do you think?
Do you include military in your support of term limits for all government employees?
I can think of many situations in which limiting government service to seven years would be counterproductive. I would agree on term limits for politicians. I would love to see a system where politicians are elected based on their ability to do the job, and not on their party or their ability to emotionally manipulate susceptible voters.
