Pit bulls have never had the best reputation in Montreal, or really in any other city. Especially over the last couple years there's been a lot of back and forth on whether or not a pit bull ban will be enforced in the city. After Valerie Plante was elected mayor, dog owners thought the fight was over as the pit bull ban was revoked. But, for the last few months Bill 128 has still been in talks, and it doesn't look good for the dogs.
Despite the bad rep, there are still a few places in and around Montreal that allow dogs on sight. One of those being Hudson's Sandy Beach right outside of the city. Well, they did allow dogs, up until yesterday.
The area has always been a super popular spot for locals as well as tourists and out of town visitors. Since it was one of the only beaches in Quebec to be dog friendly, at times it looked more like a dog park than a place you'd actually want to sun tan and swim.
Dog owners are now out of luck though as the beach is now officially off limits to all dogs. It's because of a totally random pit bull attacked that sparked a lot of fear within beach-goers and even caused injury. Here's what happened.

Luckily, the unfortunate swimmer was left only with a nasty wound and some antibiotics, but the beach is not taking anymore chances with any type of dogs.
The biggest concern according to the man that was attacked was that if it had been a child, or even a elderly person, there's no chance they would've been able to fight the pit bull off.
Luckily, the unfortunate swimmer was left only with a nasty wound and some antibiotics, but the beach is not taking anymore chances with any type of dogs.
The Mayor of Hudson is even going as far as to consider banning dogs in other areas of the town as well, such as the Hudson/Oka ferry. The beach officially has new signs as of yesterday evening that clearly state dogs must stay off the beach at all times, so dog owners are pretty out of luck now unless they choose to leave Fido at home during their next outing.
Keep your dog on a leash, Montreal.

This sentence makes no sense.
"On sight?!" Like: "When seen?"

Regards,
Yes, true. The author needs a copy editor.
Or to return to middle school english class.
Should have just pulled the damn dog underwater. What is taught in Rescue Dive class, you have the air, let the victim give up first.
I’m still shocked that Montreal has a beach...
How true!
Regards,
They probably meant “on site”. But as long as the spellchecker didn’t complain, it was good to go.
What if it was a Muslim dog? I mean, aside from the fact it would be dinner.
Typical libtard reaction. Instead of banning the crappy dogs, all dogs are banned.

It’s on the Ottawa River. Those of us near the oceans wouldn’t even consider calling anything on a lake or river a beach. We laugh at those who do. We call it going to the lake or river. The only beaches around here are at the ocean.
Ever been to the Great Lakes?
They have beaches. Period.
You can’t just ban pit bulls. Too many anti-social types ( not all pit owners, some are just ignorant) own pitbulls and they live to challenge the norms of a peaceful society and cause chaos.
Typical leftist thinking. One dog attack and they ban all dogs.
More Pit Bull drivel.
I do not have any issue with banning dogs from beaches. Who wants to go on a beach and step in dog crap. Have fenced off dog parks on beaches and force the owners to clean up behind their dogs offering plastic bags and a disposal bin.
I would call the Great Lakes inland seas. L Michigan is 120 miles wide at its widest, and about 300 miles long.
There are some nice beaches on the lakes.
“Ever been to the Great Lakes?”
Don’t need to as I’ve been to the real beaches of the Pacific/Atlantic Oceans and the Mediterranean Sea. I’m within a half hour of the Atlantic Ocean every day and only a few hours from Florida and North Carolina beaches.
We'll have to meet up. We laugh and kick sand in the faces of smug dipsh!ts like you.
Yeah, whatever, Ive been to all those places. Bondi. Coronado. Waikiki. Laguna. Space Coast. 30A. On and on. The Riviera isnt so much beaches as rocky shorelines, but they have great food, for instance.
And the Great Lakes have some wonderful sand beaches.
Pretty much what I was thinking.
Basically about banning dog owners? Majority are self centered and inconsiderate, and it shows in the way they manage their dogs.
A public beach is not the place for people to bring their dogs.
