Like you, my first time voting eligibility for President was in 1980, except I voted for Jimmy Carter. You see, back then, I called myself a Democrat. I was told they fought for the little guy, and the GOP was only for the rich.
That changed in 1981 when I too got a nice tax break. I realized then I had been lied to by the Democrats and their media. Been a Republican ever since.

I admired Reagan and what he stood for as a statesman and as an American. One day I will pilgrimage to the Ranch and Museum. My first vote though was absentee in Germany as an Army soldier for his successor Bush I. The rest is history.
