Wasn’t a movie made depicting the widespread human sacrifice? That’s right, a non-person named Mel Gibson did, and I would say it was pretty gruesome and it seems factual too.
Sounds a little familiar. This article says archaeologists estimated the “rack” would have had about 130,000 skulls at one point. *shudder*
Mel Gibson said in the movie’s audio commentary that he was only showing the milder side of things. It sort of makes the Spanish conquest sound justified if it ended all that.
“It sort of makes the Spanish conquest sound justified if it ended all that.”
Ah, yes, the “noble savage.” Torture, slavery, constant warfare, and human sacrifice. How wonderful.
Celebrate diversity. Everyone knows these blood thirsty war mongering, superstitious savages were really just the happy children of the forest who lived and laughed and loved and were one with nature. They danced and sang all day with the animals who danced and sang along with them, just like in Disney movies until the evil, racist white Europeans came and destroyed everything. *sigh*
Cortez did Mexico a favor.
Perhaps ordinary citizens were repelled and terrified by what was happening. Humans have a deep sense of right and wrong. It doesnt translate necessarily into those that are in power but like pornography people know even when they see it. I wonder when Cortez came, whether the citizens had the fight in them to defend what was probably a tremendously twisted and evil culture.
this was reported centuries ago.
but remember that all cultures are equal ... at least thats what leftard professors teach.
Theres nothing new under the sun.
I think the Disney movies were Incas, not Aztecs.
There was a reason some tribe eagerly joined the Spaniards to go after the Aztec.
I’m using it in the allegorical sense.
All cultures are equal value.
And native cultures rank higher.
So I must propose a beating heart revival of ancient roots. Since Liberals have a dark heart, we can all start there.
GEEZ! WIKIPEDIA WILL HAVE TO REVISE ITS PC DEFINITION OF “FLOWER WARS”.
So much for cultural equivalence.
Cortez described the walls, floors, and ceilings of their “temples” plastered with human blood and the priests and their hair clotted with blood.
And the Mexicans attack Cortez??
Not counting the ones which fell off and rotted. The Aztec public ATE the flesh of human sacrificial victims.
Read Prescott’s Conquest of Mexico.
