I agree he has substantial power, but he also needs certain events to play out, for example this recent move by the House, which he does not control.
To the extent that Trump exerts direct control, the press and it's allies in the DEM party will declare his move to be purely self-serving, and contrary to the rule of law, etc.
House vote include 1 GOP voting "present." Measure has enough votes to pass.
IMO some factors affecting Trump’s timetable include:
the clock running out on DOJ succession (happened already)
getting honest judges in the right places
disarming DS threats (NK, Iran, other access to WMD?)
possibly waiting for a symbolic date like July 4.
possibly waiting for prison space (construction at Gitmo? freeing low level non-violent prisoners to make space?)
acquiring critical mass of Q followers
forcing Q mentions into the broader public consciousness via MSM coverage
waiting for certain perps to incriminate themselves
SCOTUS opening? (happened) needs to fill first?
probably a lot more, but those are the ones that occur to me
