An Unthinkable Suggestion to Deal with the Impossible Situation at Hand? (or !) - Vanity
n/A | Unpublished | Oscar in Batangas

OK, I'm just going to throw it out there:

Martial Law.

Two or more guys breaking into my house ANYtime day or night, is called an invasion. I will use all means at my disposal to deal with that situation. I have high expectations of prevailing. If they have a van full of supporters in my driveway cheering them on and tossing them supplies, I'm going to try to turn them into toast, as well, to the best of my ability.

Mr. President, our Home is being invaded. The invaders are being cheered on (and more) by people from inside our own family. You have the means and, I assume, the will to do what it takes to stop it. I hope that you know that you have the support---TOTAL and ENTHUSIASTIC support of a whole lot of us behind you for your necessary actions.

Philippine President Duterte declared a six-month period of Martial Law in the country's southern-most areas to deal with the insurrection that plagued some communities there. I see the rationale for a similar declaration here, except that it needs to go a bit farther geographically and perhaps a bit longer time-wise:

» Militarize the border long enough and strong enough to get the border wall - the big, beautiful one, not a single strand of barb wire - erected, tested and staffed.

» Suspend habeas corpus long enough and strong enough to get the swamp drained, flushed, sterilized and sealed up. That may involve the wholesale removal of judges and bureaucrats all up and down District of Columbia corridors and points beyond.

» Jail the dissidents who are actually insurrectionists hiding behind a veil of "Free Speech". People who make threats against your family, the members of your cabinet, duly elected Members of Congress and honest political pundits are not exercising free speech, but are actively promoting anarchy and rebellion.

»»»Some citizens claim that you are trying to run a 'Banana Republic'. Give them a 10-20% taste of what a banana republic is like. For starters:

» Declare war on Antifa, Black Lives Matter, MS-13 and anyone involved in the illegal drug trade.

» Put military patrols in sanctuary jurisdictions to round up illegal aliens and get them back to their home countries.

» Offer citizens cash rewards of $5,000 per illegal identified and deported, whether it be visa overstayers or just plain border jumpers. (That one-time expense will save the country Trillions of Dollars in the long run.)

» Cancel the lease on the UN's headquarters and give them three months to find another home to live in and other patsies to support them.

» Repair our National Security by reestablishing a rigorous security clearance process and re-enabling swift and severe consequences for violating the obligation to safeguard the Nation's secrets.

» Eliminate the two- and three-tier justice system which seems to describe our present judicial processes. Go after the big fish first and hard. We the people have waited patiently long enough.

» Clean up the election system from top to bottom and even violate states rights in the process, if necessary

Mr. President, take a lesson from Mt St. Helens, Mt. Pinatube, Mt. Mayon, Mt Kilauea and all the other volcanoes in history. They gave off early warning signs before erupting, but nothing could stop them from erupting once those signs played out.

If blood starts flowing (one could argue that it already started on the baseball practice field in the DC area) that will be your sign that a major civil eruption in this country is underway. At that moment, your strength of will alone won't be able to stop it.

However, an early Martial Law declaration, swiftly and forcefully applied, (then quickly removed when order has been restored) may just be what is needed to preserve, protect and defend our Constitution and its Republic.

I have seen and admired what you can do in 500 days while facing all sorts of headwinds. By using the process of Martial Law to knock down those headwinds, I suspect that you will have things back to acceptable order in about 50 days.

Good luck, Sir, and Godspeed

It's tough medicine, I'll admit. But the infection is aggressive and deeply rooted already.

A president can’t just declare martial law.

I know.

But what’s that thing they CAN do about deploying the military and then informing Congress Leaders a few days later?

I’ll submit

DC Baseball field attack,
Occupy Wall Street defecations on police cars
MS-13 violence,
Injuries to people simply attending political rallies
Vandalism to property of people on the right,
The Kate Steinles of the country

for your consideration as a start

It’s my effort for the opening kickoff. I’m planning to ‘hang in there’ for the full 60 minutes if necessary.

Very few Americans want the extreme and often unconstitutional measures you’re advocating.

Relatively few colonists wanted the American Revolution, either

It’s stupid. Martial law is a ridiculous measure

Trump has it right. Build the wall. Enforce the laws on the books

Martial law is never a good thing. It means everything has broken down

“”Martial law is never a good thing. It means everything has broken down””

You are SO RIGHT!

(everything has broken down)

and

Re your previous reply about building the wall:

The only way I see it getting built is extra-legislatively. i.e. the military will have to do it probably as part of an invasion repelling action.

The blue states are in open rebellion. Our corrupt stasi state , corrupt courts, fakestream media and both parties are too...

It’s not a question of if but when Trump has to call out the military.

“”Sooner” may be preferable to ‘later’

By the way, where ARE those several billion ‘bullets’ that we the people purchased for ‘our’ government a few years ago??

I agree. I predicted Trump would have to declare martial law when all the antifa violence was going down...The lawlessness is only getting worse. If he doesn’t do it the people will have to and that’s never pretty.

No need for martial law at this time. Congress can dust off the 1867-68 Reconstruction Act. It involves declaring specific states in insurrection. That’s followed by appointing a military governor along with necessary troops.

The state legislature is locked down and, using a carrot or stick approach, the legislators are urged to pass specific laws that will bring the state back into legal and constitutional balance. There’s a lot more involved in the act, so consider this a brief synopsis.
