'Unacceptable and frustrating': Chicago sees most violent weekend of the year

The weekend began with seven people shot in just an hour on the South Side. It ended with 10 people shot in two attacks on the West Side.

By Monday morning, at least 56 people had been hit by gunfire in Chicago over the weekend. At least nine of them died(snip)

"Most of Chicago celebrated and enjoyed this weekend," Chicago police First Deputy Superintendent Anthony Riccio told reporters,(snip) "However, we saw an unacceptable and frustrating level of gun violence in several communities.

“There’s too many illegal guns on the street,” he added, echoing a constant theme of his boss, Superintendent Eddie Johnson. “They’re too easy to get.”(snip)

The worst attack occurred as the weekend was winding down. Two cars circled a block where a party was being held in the 1300 block of South Loomis Street in University Village on the Near West Side and then at least two people opened fire.

Six people were hit, including a women in her 20s who was shot in the chest, left arm and head and died at the scene, police said. A 17-year-old boy was shot several times in the head.(snip)

A 28-year-old man was with a group on the Lakefront Trail near Balbo Drive about 1:40 a.m. Sunday when there was an argument and shots were fired, according to police.

Travis Perry, 24, of Oak Forest, said he was sitting on a ledge with several friends when he heard four or five gunshots and felt a bullet whiz past his face. He grabbed his girlfriend and got on the ground. He noticed a man lying facedown. “There was blood coming out of his back.” (snip) “It’s crazy. You never think it’s going to happen right there next to Michigan Avenue and the lake and everything.”

New proposal for Chicago: How about letting the cops do their job?

Does Chicago prevent cops from doing their job? Or is it a revolving door system? Or is it that no one talks and they can't find who is doing the crimes?

Makes sense to me. “Fathers Day” weekend in Chicago has to be a very confusing time.

I think free ammunition is the answer. Free consumables works so well with needles for the drug users.

The gun does not decide to kill a human.

It is the human heart and the human mind that decide to kill another human.

“New proposal for Chicago: How about letting the cops do their job?”

Chicago might start with getting rid of all the Dems and Libs first, then turn the police loose to do their jobs, would probably do wonders for the city. Right now, Chicago and DC are two very horrible SEWERS.

Obviously, it is accepted. Not only are people getting killed, their murders go unsolved because snitches get stitches.

Nope - everything gun related is evil*. Drugs, needles, illegal immigration unlimited illegitimacy, revolving door justice system, etc. all good - guns, second amendment, rights of self defense - bad bad bad. Democrats have only themselves to blame for the mess they make of things, and you know they will NEVER do that.

*Chicago has been a Democrat run petty tyranny for generations. Don't expect logic or common sense there. Just waiting for some Chicago politician to blame the killings on downstate's "lax gun control laws"

The welfare state subsidizes this bloodshed.

It breaks up families and it allows criminals the time to plot and commit crimes rather than spend time making a living for them and their wards.

When you keep doing what you have always done you get the same results you always get.

I wonder what's more effective is stopping rape, a whistle or carrying a basketball

"Most of Chicago celebrated and enjoyed this weekend,"

So they celebrated father's day, when nobody knows who their freaking father is?

Amazing but not surprising. When you take an animal out of the jungle and insert it into a civilized society it tends to remain an animal. What makes anyone think these bastards understand anything except kill or be killed!!!
