Are We Suffering from 'Star Wars' Fatigue?
PJ Media ^ | June 11, 2018 | Chris Queen

I've been a fan of Star Wars from the start. I was only four when the first movie came out, but I remember getting a watch with C-3PO and R2-D2 on it for Christmas in 1977. It's still the most memorable gift from my childhood.

I have vivid memories of going to see the original trilogy, both in the original runs and in re-releases. I suffered through the prequels. And my siblings and I have introduced Star Wars love to a new generation through the new films and Disney World visits.

I saw the movie “Solo” yesterday. I was surprised that I liked it. The only thing I didn’t like was the big dyke sounding robot who was light years more advanced than cp30 or r2d2. That was the only thing contradictory in the movie.

“but when virtually the entire chain of command is female, well, it inspires a chuckle.”

Whenever someone points out that they are lead by women in this movie, I need to point out that since the original trilogy they have also been subordinate to an intelligent, bi-pedal goldfish.

So why not women ? :)

“Don’t forget in TFA the black guy and Poe were supposed to be gay for each other “

It was more the sick SJW fans that made this into a “thing” since they can’t imagine that two people of the same sex can become quick friends w/o being homosexuals. It’s liberal projection in that liberals can’t seem to become friends with anyone they don’t want to screw ... both literally and figuratively :-).

“Darth Vader’s grandson is an emo whiny p*ssy.”

I can’t agree here. Of all of the “new” characters, he is the most interesting and the only one I kind of like. He certainly looks like an emo puke, but he is anything but that. I’d love to see the First Order win frankly as whatever the rebel alliance was is now garbage led by crazy women drivers :-P.

Overall, I enjoyed “The Force Awakens” ... I didn’t care much for “The Last Jedi” (I thought the opening scene was pretty slick as well as the Rey/Kylo Ren lightsaber battle and the final scene on that salt planet ... everything in between was a snoozefest and PC nonsense that wrecked anything resembling a story ... ~ 50 minutes of it was cool though is was not worth wasting over $10 to see in a theater).

I haven’t seen Solo yet (first Star Wars movie I did not see on opening night in my life ... ironic since he was my favorite character). Since the actors/writers are trying to make Lando into a “pansexual”, I kind of decided that they’ve got more than enough of my money for all of the mediocre crap they’ve pumped out since the late 1990s. You don’t mess with Lando and Han ... ever! :-)

I got tired of it in 1977.

They fail to see how much Mark Hamill’s FU to conservatives affected the franchise.

I'm not so sure, since I never even heard of it until after the movie bombed and I'm a above-casual fan. But even if that's the reality they will never ... NEVER ... acknowledge it.

I found it very hard to take seriously the next gen Darth Vader who lost a light saber fight to someone who had never before held a light saber. He couldn’t even take out the hapless Finn in that battle. His helmet was a mere affectation, a costume to try and increase his intimidation factor, since he wasn’t a pimple on his Grandfather’s behind. In TLJ, even Snoke called him out on the stupid helmet and being a failure.

“I didn’t care much for “The Last Jedi” (I thought the opening scene was pretty slick...”

I found the opening scene to be utterly ridiculous. I suggest you watch that scene again. Three Star Destroyers and a Dreadnaught surprise a rebel Cruiser, 9 slow and fragile bombers and a small squadron of fighters. The rebels were so ridiculously outgunned they should have been obliterated in minutes, yet they escaped. It just made no sense.

I won't give them any money. I don't know why other people keep funding our enemies once they realize certain groups are in fact our enemy.

I urge people to not fund our enemies.

The movies simply suck. It is not “fatigue”.

I only saw the first three: Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. There was a long gap between the 3rd and 4th films, so by the time the 4th was released, I had lost interest.

try something new! Why beat a dead horse? What is this Jaws XIII? Advise: Three movies on one theme is enough! need Story ideas? Try the Disney tried and true formula: American History? Jules Vern? Mark Twain? Free Ideas: Revive Charlie Chan (done right), Revive Mr. Moto, Flash Gordon, Brick Bradford, Shena, Queen of the Jungle, Perry Mason, The Green Hornet,Doc Savage etc...

Agreed. I enjoyed the first couple of Star Wars movies but the last five they churned out have been CGI rubbish.

Star Trek for kiddies.

Just as well. Star Wars movies became increasing levels of suckage with each new iteration.

Islander7 said it :

“I’m your huckleberry.
A huckle bearer is commonly known as the person who carries a casket.”

What a great insult at a duel. “I’m going to carry your casket”
