“@DRFPrivman @DRFInsidePost I’m not surprised to see no mention of the Restoring Hope-Geroux tactics that were clearly premeditated between he and Smith. RH was Justify’s protector, escort, O lineman, whatever term you want to use. It wasn’t needed & lacked integrity. Justify didn’t need it.

Jose A. Contreras @LosPonies
Anyone else catch Mike Smith telling Florent Geroux (Restoring Hope the stablemate) “you’re the man!” after the race on NBC? And I’m guessing because of how good of a job Flo did playing defense blocking the other runners right behind Justify lol

Kevin Cox @brooklyncowboy1
That is an absolute DISGRACE what Geroux did with Restoring Hope there, Totally made a mockery of the opening 1/8th. I’ve NEVER seen a horse no corner on the first turn ON PURPOSE to eliminate another horse. Farce.

Having your horse go from the 5 path to the 8 path to the 2 path while being right reined & looking over both shoulders before being told “You’re the man.” by the winning rider was worthy of a strenuous adjective, IMHO. : )

Boo hoo. What, did they expect beating Justify to be easy? They thought Restoring Hope was going to get out of their way? Next these losers will be crying that Justify blocked their horses’ paths to the finish line.

If the four-legged Gronk could go from a distant last place to finishing second, those other horses definitely could have done better. They obviously just weren’t as well trained or well ridden. Too bad, so sad.

So? Bicycle racing teams do this all the time.

Well that’s a very mature way to handle being unable to break fast and make it to the second spot yourself. They sound like a bunch of whining Democrats. They’re suffering from Justify Derangement Syndrome. Nobody could catch up to threaten his run, simple as that. He is a fantastic horse.

The operative term in bicycle racing is ‘team’. Horse racing is not a team sport.

See my post #13-—Gronkowski ran a great race , piloted by a very crafty jockey. Any other jockey in the race coul’ve adopted a winning or nearly-winning strategy, but they didn’t. Just watched the youtube complete race, and could see NOTHING wrong with Geroux’s ride on Restoring Hope-—yes, he got out quickly , but very soon started to drift wide, ran that way for a while, and that left the areas closer to the rail wide open for any other horse to gain whatever position they could on Justify. Then RHope came back in, and continued running fast, but he always stayed in the path he established for himself, and never impeded any other contender. I assume I was watching the right horse as I described above-—this is fake news, horseracing style.

Yep, Restoring Hope did nothing wrong and nothing will come of the complaining.

You have a tremendous knowledge of horseracing! I do not; I tune in to exactly three races per year, lol. So, I wouldn’t have noticed if a horse/jockey had done anything wrong, but since the commentators didn’t talk about a problem I wasn’t aware of anything remotely controversial. I was just excited about the Triple Crown and impressed with Gronkowski. I loved Gronk’s reaction. How awesome for him to watch his horse make such an amazing comeback and nearly win!

Thanks for posting so much good information; it’s interesting and really helpful to me!

Thanks for posting this article.

As the horses were on the track and it was announced on NBC that Baffert had an additional horse in the race (first that I heard of it as I do not actively follow horse racing nor read articles beforehand), my initial thought was that the other horse would do something to help Justify. During the race, that is what happened as the horse blocked others path. I saw no foul at all so the race was officially clean.

From the article that you posted, it appears that this is not uncommon. I glean that from the comment from someone else with a few horses in the race that they wanted to have one horse go out fast and challenge Justify to improve the chances of their other horse.

In such races of consequence, this should be disallowed. However, for horse racing fans, it might be worthy of your time to view historical races where horses of the same owner, trainer, stable (or who has vested interest in more than 1 horse) look for such patterns of collaboration. This might be something to give you an edge. I have no interest in spending my time studying horses.

The Gronk horse stayed way behind the pack even out of the gate and then put on a beautiful powerful burst of speed on the OUTSIDE of the track to come in second.

Somebody is a sore loser.

Re “The Russians and Trump hacked the race!”

How did they do it? Did they raise any “hackles”?

At no point was GronK anywhere near Restoring Hope. And none of the other horses were able to keep up at the end of the race. Now if you could say Gronk was blocked earlier then you may have something. But he was far back and never near the leaders until the stretch when he just could not make up the gap.
