The Bill Paxton moments in Aliens were hilarious. That's what I want in comedic relief, not Jar Jar getting his tongue caught in a turbofan. "Why don't you put her in charge" was probably the funniest one, not because it was silly but because it matched the suspense. Clever. Do you remember his line "Well that's a switch"? Brilliant and sarcastic, not silly and stupid.

"Hey Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man"?
"No, have you"?

Absolutely loved the movie, all except Glover as Lando. Thought he was creepy and slimey, where Billy Dee’s Lando was suave and sophisticated. Adored this film and hope it picks up speed.

I’ve only seen the trailer. Did “Mr. Gambino” play Lando as “street” in any way?

The trailer has him say “baby”.

Mr. William’s inspiration for the role of Lando was the swashbucklers he grew up watching as a kid (people like Errol Flynn), he said that a reporter once asked him what his life growing up in America as a black man brought to that role. He said “nothing, the world in Star Wars is far far away from here”.

“where Billy Dee’s Lando was suave and sophisticated.”

The smoothest cat EVER.

A Black Hole formed in the cantina bar and sucked the rest of the stories/”canon” into it. I can’t see the star wars anymore. They went over the event horizon.

Saw it and the best thing I can say about it, and I’m being charitable, is it’s better than Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

I did like how Solo won the Millennium Falcon (fair and square). That ship was a key player throughout the franchise.

100 million? I heard at least 250 million million, not including marketing.

Correct....due to re-shoots (70% of the film) and additional marketing, breaking even in this toxic environment is going to be hard in not impossible. I guessing Disney takes a big financial hit from ‘Solo’.

The studio takes a percentage of the ticket sales for a designated time frame (anywhere from 25% to 50% depending upon the country or contract details). ‘Solo’ probably needs to make 800M—900M to break even.

After ‘The Last Jedi’ backlash (think Batman Vs Superman), insulting the fans, SJW crap plus a sense of Disney thinking it was ‘too big to fail’ and you got a perfect storm.

Too many options for consumers today and with social media fans can quickly organize a counter attack. Disney (as well as other film studios) are not adapting. The only exception is Marvel Studios mainly because management “gets it” and understands the source material.

In your opinion. I enjoy Star Wars and hope for a few good movies, even if there are some bad ones.

I honestly don’t remember if he said baby. In my worthless opinion, Billy Dee’s Lando was born suave and I can’t see him NEEDING to cheat at cards. Glover’s Lando impressed me as a street punk trying hard to seem suave.

Just come back from watching it. Myself, my wife and our 11 year old son absolutely loved it.
