Rams new stadium costs pass $4 billion, more than double any other U.S. stadium

This new Los Angeles Rams stadium better be good.

We know it will be expensive, to a record level. Sports Business Journal reported that costs for the new stadium in Inglewood have passed $4 billion. You read that right.

Stadium costs have gone way up through the years, but no other stadium in the United States has come anywhere close to this. SBJ said the most expensive stadium previous to this was MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, and that cost $1.7 billion. The Raiders’ new stadium in Las Vegas is expected to cost more than $2 billion. That’s still less than half of what the Rams stadium, which will also be used by the Los Angeles Chargers, will cost. […]

The extra costs, in part, come from ensuring the stadium can withstand an earthquake, SBJ reported. There have also been other costs like access roads and utilities that are adding to the price tag.

That $4.25 billion figure doesn’t even include the entire complex. It does include a 6,000-seat amphitheater, SBJ said, but not retail space and commercial development or a new NFL Network headquarters. When all that is included, the total project cost could exceed $5 billion, Sports Business Journal said. …

The only games that will sellout there will be when the Mexican National Soccer team plays there.

The Rams could not survive in LA when the population was a lot more ‘white.’ The area is much more Hispanic and they are not football fans, they like soccer and baseball...question is, where will the Rams go when this fails.

Toyota USA got a few breaks from Plano to relocate their HQ

Some financial breaks, but the biggest one was to let men in the women's bathrooms. Even the city councilman representing Prestonwood Baptist didn't raise a stink about that one after he got elected on a pro-family platform.

The original plan called for $60 million from Inglewood and $8 million a year. Has that changed?

This is the Grand Coulee Dam. It cost $163 million in 1943, which is $1.86 billion today. It produces 7,079 Megawatts of electricity. It will pay for itself in 2044. To date nobody has knelt on it to protest the National Anthem.

Their special "spit on and trample the US Flag lobby" probably cost a few million on its own. **** the NFL. Thanks Olog-hai.

The point is that it never used to be as expensive as now, I think. All due to government machinations more than dangers from seismic events.

My Direct TV bill has a 4.00 a month “Sports Fee” added on and I never watch any sports.

Yup, that's probably your "local sports fee" that all the major networks started tacking on to get some extra $$ out of any tv channel package that includes ANY sports channels. I just got lucky and the several channels the wife wanted had a package that didn't have any of the sports stuff. The only thing I watch is Rangers games, and it's easy enough to go to the bar when it's not on FSSW or any of the local channels.
